🔥 Why can pouring boiling water into a glass cause it to suddenly CRACK?
This isn't just something that happens in the kitchen — it's the kind of real-life situation that can appear in PSLE Science.

The concept? Heat and Temperature.

For questions like this, train your child to connect these keywords:
👉 Direct contact → Gain heat → Expand → Uneven expansion → Crack
The inner wall of the glass is in direct contact with the boiling water, so it gains heat and expands faster than the outer wall.
The result? Uneven expansion causes the glass to crack.

PSLE Science isn't just about memorising facts. Students need to recognise the concept being tested, use the correct scientific keywords, and link them together to explain how and why something happens.

🚆 Did you know many PSLE Science questions are inspired by real-life events?
PSLE Science isn't just about memorising facts. It's about understanding concepts and applying them to unfamiliar situations.

In this question, students first had to conclude:
👉 The greater the mass of an object, the greater the force required to pull it.

They then had to apply that concept to explain why an increase in MRT passengers could lead to more frequent train breakdowns.
Many students know the Science concepts…
But they lose marks because they don't know how to structure their answers.

At ILLAC, we teach students to answer Open-Ended Questions using our ABCT Framework, helping them organise their ideas into clear, logical explanations that examiners are looking for.
📌 Save this for revision.

🚨 One small change to PSLE Oral in 2026 could make a big difference to your child's Reading Aloud score.

For the first time, every Reading Aloud passage now comes with a preamble.

This isn't just extra information to read—it tells students who they are speaking to, why they are speaking, and the tone they should adopt.
Imagine reading a speech to your classmates the same way you would read a bedtime story. The words may be correct, but the delivery wouldn't be.

The preamble gives students the context needed to:
✅ Use the appropriate tone and expression.
✅ Know which words deserve emphasis.
✅ Read more naturally and confidently.

Many students are still practising using the old PSLE Oral format, completely overlooking this important change.
🎯 In our PSLE Oral Workshop, we teach students how to interpret the preamble, identify the intended audience and purpose, and bring their reading to life—just as examiners expect under the new format.

📅 PSLE is around the corner. Don't let your child lose marks over a change that's easy to prepare for.

📩 Whatsapp us at 9711 8963 now to reserve a place in our PSLE Oral Workshop.
