Meet 4-year-old Min Le! 💛
He is picking up strong math foundations through hands-on exploration!

1) Using link blocks as counters, Min Le visualises numbers clearly 👀

2) With a number line, he sees how numbers grow when we add ➕

3) Through the “lock-in bigger number” method + fingers, he’s building confidence in solving independently ✌️

At ILLAC JR, we don’t just teach answers- we nurture thinking, understanding and confidence from young 🌱

✨ Build strong foundations early

Still getting stuck on problem sums even after learning multiple heuristics?
Here’s one many P5 and P6 students miss:
👉 The Common Multiple Question

Simple clue to spot it?
🚨 Look out for the word: “equal”
Equal quantities often mean students need to think about common multiples first, before attempting the rest of the solution.

This is one of the most important heuristics to master because it appears in many different variations across upper primary Maths.

Clear structure. Faster solving. Fewer mistakes.

Still getting confused between “Neither of”, “Either of”, “Neither…nor”, and “Either…or”?

You’re not alone. This is one of the most commonly tested Subject-Verb Agreement concepts in PSLE English. (pause)

👉 Simple rule:

✔️ Neither of → singular verb
✔️ Either of → singular verb

Example:
“Neither of the options is fine with me.”
“Either of the options is fine with me.”

BUT…

👉 For Neither…nor and Either…or, apply the Rule of Proximity.

Follow the subject closest to the verb.

“Neither Jayden nor the boys are going.”
“Neither the boys nor Jayden is going.”

Simple structure. Clear answers. Fewer mistakes.

Ever notice how some children can “know the content” but still struggle with homework, organisation, or getting started? That often comes down to executive functioning—the brain skills behind focus, planning, impulse control, and working memory. In this guide, we break down what executive functioning looks like across ages and what parents can do to support it without resorting to cramming. If you want stronger study habits and calmer, more confident learning, understanding these skills is the real starting point.
