As parents, you would want to see your children thrive academically and in their personal development. In today’s fast-paced world, helping young people discover and maximise their potential is key to building a strong foundation for future success. CliftonStrengths offers a powerful solution, designed to unlock your child's strengths and equip them with the tools they need to excel.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬?
CliftonStrengths, developed by Gallup, is a unique assessment tool that identifies an individual’s top 34 natural talents—the things they naturally do best. Unlike a personality test, CliftonStrengths focuses on a strengths-based approach to help young people better understand themselves, improve their performance, and build more positive relationships with their peers, teachers, and families.

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫
- 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Students who understand and leverage their strengths feel more confident and engaged in their studies. This often leads to higher academic performance, better motivation, and a more positive attitude towards learning.

- 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬: By identifying their strengths, students can better understand themselves and those around them. This helps them build stronger, more positive relationships with peers, fostering collaboration and empathy in group activities.

- 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: CliftonStrengths helps students recognise their unique talents, enabling them to focus on areas where they naturally excel. This can lead to better time management, reduced stress, and more enjoyment in school and extracurricular activities.

- 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬: By understanding their own strengths, students can develop essential leadership skills early on. These skills will help them make better decisions, take ownership of their actions, and inspire others, whether in school projects or community activities.

- 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: When students know and use their strengths, they are better equipped to handle challenges, overcome setbacks, and build emotional resilience. This leads to better overall well-being and personal satisfaction.

Help your child unlock their potential with CliftonStrengths and watch them grow into confident, resilient, and successful young adults.

On Tuesday 27 August 2024, I had the privilege of speaking at Bukit Merah Secondary School’s assembly, bright and early at 7:40 AM! It was inspiring to see the students so attentive as I shared my life experiences, focusing on the idea that "Attitude is Everything."

During the 30-minute talk, I spoke about how challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but our attitude towards them can shape our outcomes. I spoke about my journey through life, reflecting on my experiences in a third-person narrative—as my own best friend (BFF), my best supporter who is with me 24 x 7 and the person that would decide on the path to take in my life.

I was pleasantly surprised when a student approached me after the talk, asking for a photo together. Felt a bit like a rock star 😁. Moments like these remind me why I’m passionate about mentoring the next generation. It’s not just about imparting knowledge, but also about inspiring and being inspired by the youth.

This precious experience has helped me to refocus on my passion, washing away the weariness of overcoming mountain after mountain of challenges and bringing fulfilment to my work.

Truly, who I am today is the culmination of the decisions I made in my many "yesterdays", and who I will be tomorrow will be decided by what I do in the many "todays".

So...

IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME!

Career uncertainty is a common challenge many face at various stages of life. Whether you're just starting out or looking to make a change, finding clarity and purpose in your career path can be daunting. As a coach, I've guided many individuals through this journey, and I’d like to share a practical approach that can help you or someone you know navigate this uncertainty.

1. 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙨

The first step in gaining clarity is to assess your core values. Your career should align with what matters most to you. I’ve seen how misalignment between values and career choices can lead to frustration and dissatisfaction. Take the time to reflect on what you truly believe in and ensure that your career path resonates with these values. This alignment will not only bring satisfaction but also drive long-term success.

2. 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨

Exploring your interests is crucial, but it’s important to differentiate between hobbies and career interests. While hobbies are great for relaxation and personal fulfilment, they don’t always translate well into a career. I’ve helped many individuals recognise that not all passions should become professions. Instead, focus on interests that can sustain you and grow over time, while allowing your hobbies to remain as sources of joy outside of work.

3. 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙮 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝𝙨

Knowing your strengths is essential for choosing a career path that feels natural and rewarding. Aligning your strengths with your career choice not only makes the learning curve smoother but also enhances your effectiveness and efficiency quickly. This focus on strengths allows you to contribute meaningfully from the outset, building confidence and paving the way for a successful career.

4. 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙊𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨

Once you have clarity on your values, interests, and strengths, it’s time to consider your options. Evaluate which career paths best fit your criteria, but don’t stop there. Look at the bigger picture—company culture, industry trends, growth potential, and compensation are all important factors. By weighing these elements, you can make an informed decision that aligns with both your professional and personal life goals.

5. 𝙎𝙚𝙩 𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨

Setting goals is the final step in guiding yourself toward a clear and purposeful career path. Identify any skills or knowledge gaps you might have and consider how best to bridge them—whether through courses, workshops, or self-study. Setting achievable goals provides a roadmap for your journey, helping you move forward with confidence and clarity.

Navigating career uncertainty doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By taking a structured approach and focusing on these key areas, you can find the clarity and purpose you need to thrive in your career. Remember, it’s not just about finding a job—it’s about finding the right path that aligns with who you are and what you want to achieve.

I Am Who I Am. Take It or Leave It?

People often try to change others, and many of us, in an attempt to please, strive to become what others want us to be. But does it really work?

I Am Who I Am. Take It or Leave It? People often try to change others, and many of us, in an attempt to please, strive to become what others want us to be. But does it really work? When we change ourselves for others, we often fall short because the expectations keep shifting, often becoming more demanding.

*Pro Bono Coaching for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) a.k.a Differently Abled*

Hi friends!

Do you know anyone with disabilities who would benefit from regular coaching / mentoring?

I’ve been coaching individuals with disabilities since I started my coaching journey, and I'm aiming to support at least five PWDs by the end of 2024 and ten by the end of 2025. Currently, I have the privilege of coaching two amazing PWDs regularly. I am an ICF Associate Certified Coach as well as a Certified Mental Toughness Coach.

It is incredibly rewarding to watch them grow, get promoted at work, and improve their leadership and communication skills. They’ve taught me so much, inspiring me with their resilience and helping me become a better coach.

As a fellow PWD, I want to contribute to their growth and support them through the daily challenges they face. My goal is to thrive, not just survive, and I’ve had the support of wonderful mentors and coaches along the way. Now, I want to pay it forward by sharing my experiences and supporting others in overcoming significant odds. The coaching will be of no charge to them.

The coaching will focus on their goals. We’ll start with an Enneagram and a Mental Toughness assessment to identify growth opportunities. After that, they can choose the topics for each session. We’ll agree on the frequency and timing in the first session. While most sessions will be online, I’d love to meet in person occasionally.

For the coaching to be effective, it would be ideal if they meet the following profile:

- Reside in Singapore or a country in Singapore's timezone.
- Below 40 years old.
- No intellectual disability.
- Employed full-time in a commercial or VWO entity (not primarily employing disabled people).
- Have at least a tertiary diploma.
- Communicate well in English.
- Generally mentally healthy or high functioning with mild mental health issues.
- Individuals who didn't meet a few of the above will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Please share this post with anyone who might benefit, and encourage them to DM me on FB messenger or WhatsApp me at +65 9170 9777. Thank you for your support and concern for your friends/relatives with disabilities – true fighters who are 'differently abled'.
