📖 Stop reading maths questions only once.
Most students read once, panic, and guess. Top students use the 3-Read Method — and it takes less than 60 seconds.
Here’s how it works 👇
Read 1 — The Story
Don’t solve yet. Just ask: “What is this question about?” Ignore the numbers. Understand the situation.
Read 2 — The Information
Now focus on what you’re given. Underline numbers, fractions, key words, and conditions.
Read 3 — The Question
Ask: “What exactly do I need to find?” This stops you from solving for the wrong thing.
Only after all 3 reads do you pick up your pen. 🖊️
The problem isn’t that your child is bad at Maths — it’s that they haven’t been taught HOW to read a Maths question.

✨ Careless mistakes don’t mean you’re bad at Maths…
They just mean your checking system needs an upgrade. 💡✍️
Most students lose marks not because they don’t know the answer — but because they:
❌ Miss units
❌ Copy numbers wrong
❌ Misread the question
❌ Forget to sense-check the final answer
That’s why this 3-Step Method can be a game changer 🚀
✔️ Read-Back Check
✔️ Reverse Check
✔️ Sense Check
These simple habits can help students recover extra marks in every paper 📚🔥

“I knew the answer… but made a silly mistake.” 😅

📚 Your child isn’t forgetting everything in the exam.
They’re practicing in a way that was never designed to prepare them for real exam conditions.
At home:
✅ Familiar topics
✅ Open books and notes
✅ No time pressure
✅ Parents nearby
In the exam:
❌ Mixed topics
❌ Closed book
❌ Strict time limit
❌ Completely on their own
That’s why so many parents say:
“But they knew it at home. What happened in the exam?”
🎯 The problem is not intelligence.
🎯 The problem is practice strategy.
The good news? It’s completely fixable.
3 simple changes can transform performance:
1️⃣ Mixed-topic practice papers
2️⃣ Closed-book solving
3️⃣ Timed practice sessions
These methods help students:
✔️ Recall faster under pressure
✔️ Build real exam confidence
✔️ Stop going blank
✔️ Improve grades significantly
At ImproMaths, we teach students how to practice the right way so they can perform when it matters most.

Your child read the question. They still got it wrong. Here’s why. 🧠
As a maths tutor, the most heartbreaking thing I hear from parents is:
“My child keeps making careless mistakes.”
But here’s the truth — after reviewing hundreds of exam papers, I can tell you with confidence:
Most “careless mistakes” aren’t careless at all. They’re reading mistakes.
And that’s a very different problem with a very different solution.
So what’s actually going wrong? 👇
When students see a question, here’s what typically happens:
→ They skim straight to the numbers
→ They spot a familiar topic
→ They start solving immediately
And right there — before the pen even touches the paper — marks are already lost.
Because they missed the ONE word that changed everything.
The words that trick students every time 👇
📌 Hence — Must use the previous result
📌 Show that — Prove the journey, not just the answer
📌 Exact value — No decimals. Surd, fraction, or π only
📌 Write down — Answer should be immediate
📌 State — Be concise. No over-explaining
The fix? A simple 3-step reading habit:
✅ Read the question 3 times before picking up your pen
✅ Circle the instruction word — it tells you WHAT is expected
✅ Always re-read the last line — that’s what the examiner wants
Most common expensive mistakes on exam papers:
❌ Solving for x when asked for x²
❌ Writing decimals instead of exact values
❌ Forgetting units
❌ Answering the wrong part entirely
Before moving on, always ask:
“Did I answer what the question actually asked?”
That one habit saves marks faster than any extra revision.
Your child isn’t careless. They just haven’t been taught how to READ a maths question properly.
And that? That can be fixed. 💪
