Some children may find connecting plain letter shapes to letter sounds challenging when they first learn to read.

Research shows that children learn grapheme-phoneme relations much faster with letter-embedded pictures.

Our friendly Letterland characters serve as embedded picture mnemonics; providing children with a link to the plain letter shape. When a child starts to say a Letterlander’s name, they will automatically produce the letter sound they need:

“Bouncy Ben says /b/ in words.” 🐰

Let's play 'Harry Hat Man says...' together!

Just like our childhood game 'Simon Says', this adapted game tests children on their Letter Sound Knowledge, where they are only to do actions that have alliterative sounds to Harry Hat Man's /h/! So you can hop on one leg, touch your hair, or even hum a tune!
