Today is Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the US. It marks the historic moment on June 19, 1865, when the news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved communities in Texas.

At Singapore American School, we join in this commemoration. We celebrate the unyielding spirit of freedom and the deep resilience of Black Americans. As a school community, we remember the past to honor those who endured enslavement while reflecting on the ongoing, shared journey for justice and equality. Nurturing global-mindedness means committing to learn and grow together every single day.

What if success isn't a solo journey at all? High School Principal Dr. Darnell Fine completely reframed what it means to graduate during his convocation address to the Class of 2026. He challenged our newest alumni to think about the families, domestic helpers, educators, and friends who quietly made a way for them along the path. His final charge to the graduates will change how you view your own achievements.

We recently took over the stadium field for an incredible day of community and sport at the second annual Eagle Stumps Trophy Cricket Tournament!

This unique, student-led initiative brought together a fantastic lineup of teams from across our campus, connecting our high school students directly with our dedicated facilities staff, contractors, and construction crew members. While the action on the pitch was highly competitive, the true magic of the tournament was found in the spaces between the matches—the shared conversations, the laughter, and the meaningful relationships built with the hard-working individuals who shape and maintain our campus every day.

The event stood as a powerful expression of gratitude, giving the field back to its builders and celebrating their passion for cricket on the very grounds they helped create. We are immensely proud of our student organizers for leading this event and deeply thankful to our entire crew for their unwavering commitment to our campus.

Our high school robotics teams headed to Anglo-Chinese School over the weekend to compete in the VEX Robotics Blanks Beginnings Scrimmage.

Designed as a crucial early-season tune-up, this tournament gave our students the perfect opportunity to test their designs, apply their technical knowledge under pressure, and strategize for the competitive season ahead. We are incredibly proud of Teams 6546A, 6546B, and 6546C for their hard work, teamwork, and brilliant problem-solving throughout the day.

Special congratulations to Team 6546C for earning the prestigious Build Award! This award recognizes a robot that is exceptionally well-crafted, robust, and reflects outstanding attention to detail and safety in its design.
Way to set the bar high for the rest of the year, teams! We look forward to seeing what you achieve next!
