In early 2010, Tueetor's founder, Tan Han Sing saw a need to make education more affordable, after seeing his single-mother friend struggled with high tuition costs for her son, who was faring poorly in school. At the same time, he had a friend whose child was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and faced difficulties finding educational support. It was also post-financial crisis of 2008

and many of his friends, many of them professionals, were unemployed. Convinced that these personal hardships were not unique – backed by similar experiences he had from a decade of volunteerism at a college board of directors – he started looking for a unified solution to address them. “Find Trainers”, Tueetor’s first product and a first-of-its-kind, was launched in August 2016 as a result, with the objectives in making education more affordable and accessible, while creating job opportunities through teaching. Since then, Find Trainers has helped thousands of families across Singapore – especially low-income families – achieve their education goals while saving up to 80% of the actual cost and time incurred. It now has more than 16 thousand active trainers in 4 countries, spanning 500 subject interests – from academic to non-academic (eg. music, sports, dance, professional development, etc) to special needs (ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc). A typical match between learners and trainers takes less than 2 minutes. Staying true to Tueetor’s missions, Find Trainers is offered for FREE. This is made possible by an angel investment from iGroup Asia Pacific, an education group that shares the same “pay-it-forward” philosophy. This allows Tueetor to focus on building and strengthening its core assets – technology, network, brand, user and data. With them, Tueetor launched Coursaver™ in October 2019. Coursaver™ allows learners to book courses on lowest price, instant confirmation and free cancellation guarantees. Within 4 months, it became Singapore's largest course-shopping site by training providers - with >600 onboard. COVID-19 has rewritten many business rules. Conventional businesses are finding it difficult to thrive in an environment that discourages close proximity interaction. Many of Tueetor’s Coursaver™ providers have closed down as a result. To help its partners, and other affected organisations do so, Tueetor has fast-tracked the development of a mobile learning app it conceptualised in 2018. Called 10-Minute Tutor™ (10MT), it is an on-demand tutor app that allows students to get help on homework and revision - INSTANT, 24x7, LIVE - from 100% qualified teachers. After 10MT, Tueetor intends to offer the same technology to educators in other disciplines, in fact, any businesses that have been negatively impacted due to safe distancing measures. Since 2016, Tueetor has bagged a few independent awards for innovations such as “Find Trainers” and "Coursaver”, including the coveted EdTechXAsia All Stars Awards 2017/2018 and Asia Smart Apps Award 2018/2019. It has also been credited on national TV, radio stations, newspapers (print/online) many times, for its contributions in education. It is also a member of the established AWS EdStart, and a Grab Venture Velocity portfolio company – beating over 500 companies across 31 countries to be the final 5 admitted in 2018, and the only one from Singapore.
