Here's how we tackle this question, Singapore Math style:

1️⃣ Understand:
Beds and sofas are both 2m long.
Sally has one more sofa than bed.
Find the total length of the sofas.
2️⃣ Choose:
Restate the problem in another way.
3️⃣ Solve:
If we add 1 more bed, Sally will have the same number of beds and sofas.
New total length = 14m + 2m = 16m.
Sally has the same number of beds and sofas.
So total length of sofas = 16m ÷ 2 = 8m.
4️⃣ Check:
How many sofas are there? 8m ÷ 2m = 4.
How many beds are there? 4 – 1 = 3.
How many beds and sofas altogether? 4 + 3 = 7.
What is the total length of beds and sofas? 7 × 2m = 14m.
