Busy bees at work! 🌷🐝

Our preschoolers have been "bee-sy" expanding their knowledge of nature this week by asking a big question: "Who else needs plants?"

Following a nature walk and a reading of 'Bee' by Britta Teckentrup, the children discovered how vital plants are for insects like bees. They even cleared up a common misconception, learning that bees do not live inside flowers or drink honey from them, but instead gather nectar to carry back to their hive to turn into honey! 🍯

The children loved acting out the entire journey through interactive role-play, zooming around to collect nectar and return home safely.

Our young learners put local ants to the ultimate taste test! 🐜 🔍

After placing grapes and bananas outside to test which fruit the ants preferred, our children noticed the ants darting between the fruit and the grass. This sparked a fascinating question: "Where do ants go after eating?"

From theories about hiding underground to walking all the way home, their curiousity took over! To test their ideas, they got their hands dirty mixing soil, sand and water to build a custom ant nest, complete with fresh fruit to invite their tiny friends inside. ✨

❤️🤍 Our preschoolers came dressed in red and white as they celebrated Singapore's 61st National Day!

Through stories, songs and hands-on activities, they explored what makes Singapore special to them. 🎶🇸🇬

From a Singapore-themed scavenger hunt featuring local landmarks, food, traditional games and cultural traditions, to designing their own NDP logos, our preschoolers shared their unique perspectives on what Singapore means to them. 🎨✨

These hands-on experiences helped deepen their appreciation for Singapore's culture, heritage and community spirit.

Connecting our classrooms with nature! 🌿🌟

Drawing inspiration from the book, 'Our Planet: The One Place We All Call Home', our children spent the week exploring how living and non-living things depend on each other. 💭

Through hands-on matching games and a nature walk around school, they observed firsthand how plants and animals need sunlight, water, air and soil to thrive. The children even teamed up for a habitat scavenger hunt before constructing their own mini-habitats!

We love seeing our young learners collaborate, ask big questions and build a deep appreciation for the world we share. 💚

Weekly Learning Highlights: Our Caterpillar Inquiry 🐛🍃

Curiosity was in full bloom this week as our young learners continued their caterpillar inquiry!

The children posed thoughtful questions, collected leaves outdoors and carried out a real-life investigation to discover their caterpillars' favourite food – green lime leaves. 🌿

Inspired by 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', the children also enjoyed imaginative role-play, developed their Chinese vocabulary and compared the storybook with their real-life observations of nature. 🍎🦋

Celebrating the colours of our community! ✨

Our young learners marked Racial Harmony Day with a day of discovery, dressing in traditional and cultural attire as they celebrated Singapore's rich multicultural heritage.

From playing classic games and exploring a "Guess That Spice" challenge to sharing stories through a curated book collection, every activity sparked curiosity, conversation and plenty of smiles.

Experiences like these nurture curiosity, respect and an appreciation for different cultures, traditions and perspectives – helping our children grow into compassionate global citizens. 🌟
