π§β¨ Preparing an Insoluble salt
The precipitation method is used to prepare insoluble salts by mixing two soluble solutions β forming a solid precipitate.
π§ͺ Example:
Sodium chloride + silver nitrate β silver chloride (white precipitate) + sodium nitrate
βοΈ Process:
β’ Mix β precipitate forms
β’ Filter β collect the solid
β’ Wash β remove impurities
β’ Dry β obtain a pure, dry salt
Solubility rules made simple π§ͺ
In just 1 minute, learn which salts dissolve in water and which donβt.
Learning the solubility rules of common salt will help your understanding in the chapter of QA as well as writing the state symbols for different salts! β

Proud of my students and their O-Level results.
Even more grateful for the messages theyβve shared β reminders of why I teach.
Well done, always β€οΈ

Congratulations to my βOβ levels students who received their results last Friday. Most of you have put in hard work and achieved your desired results.
Now on to the next phase of your studies ! Hopefully all of you can get into the JC or poly courses of your choice π
I wish all of you the best β€οΈ

Congratulations to all students that received their N level results yesterday π
My 2024 batch of students have achieved 100% B and above with 60% distinction rateπβοΈ
Hope all of you had some time to settle and think about the path you are going to take next.
For those that did well continue to work hard in your next phase ! And for those that did not , remember this is just a part of your journey and learn from it and grow stronger πͺπ»

Had my final lessons with my sec 4 pure chem classes last week as they will be sitting for their final MCQ paper tomorrow.
This is a bitter-sweet moment as I have taught some of them since sec 1/2 and for others who joined later, I have accompanied them in their upper Sec. Journey and we have worked hard together with the goal of acing the βOβ level chemistry exam.
I am going to miss them but am also very proud of their efforts throughout this journey. I wish them all the best in their next phase of education and hope that they will eventually find something which will give them meaning in their lives and meet well-meaning people along the way.
All the best guys and stay in touch !! π

Recent WA3 results. Hardwork and effort paying off for many of my students. A couple of them even manage to get an A1 from barely passing in WA2! π
Upper secondary chemistry: 70% distinctions (A1 and A2)
Lower Secondary Science: 75% distinctions (A1 and A2)
Slightly more than 1 month to the End-of-year exam. Now to prepare for the final show of the year π

This section about types of oxides is the last portion for the chapter of acids and bases.
Although this seems like a small part of the chapter, it is an important section as the understanding of the nature of the various types of oxides is something that is commonly tested.
So do take note! πποΈ

Bases are a special class of compounds that can neutralize acid to form salt and water.
Students often do not understand the difference between Base and Alkali.
Alkali are basically soluble bases which can dissolve in water, producing the hydroxide ions. They are typically the group 1 and ammonium hydroxides.

Continuing from last weekβs introduction to acids. We will look at the three reactions that acids undergo:
A) Acid + Metal
B) Acid + Metal Carbonate
C) Acid + Base/Alkali
Students must be able to recognise the reactions and be able to write the balanced chemical reactions accordingly.
Do also take note of the test for the different gases produced from the respective reactions !
