The roots of the Yamato Wind Symphony can be traced from its humble beginnings as The ITE College West Brass Corps in year 2010. The brass corps was founded by Ms Rina Raihana and Yamato Wind Symphony’s own former Band Director (2013 - 2015), Mr Iskandar Ramadhan. The brass corps helped fulfilled it ceremonial duties at various ITE College West official events such as the ITE College West Opening
Ceremony by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as well as President Dr Tony Tan during another ITE College West function. The Brass Corps has also strived to do outreach by performing at high profile venues like The Bay @ Marina Bay Sands. In pursue of music excellence as well as to open their doors to more opportunities, The ITE College West Brass Corps was later converted to a symphonic band and was subsequently renamed The Yamato Wind Symphony. Together with the continued support by the ITE College West Principal, management and our very dedicated Teachers in Charge, Mr Jonathan Khoo, Mr Julius Teng and Principal in Charge Mr Ong Chang Kee, The Yamato Wind Symphony hopes to be able to continue to be an avenue for young musicians to pursue their love for instrumental music as well as a place where passion for music brings people together for the sheer joy of making and playing beautiful music together. President, Mr Adam and Vice President, Ms Joanne Li.
