At the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden 2026 in Tokyo, Japan

We are delighted to share the following photos provided by our principal, Ms Ong, who attended the recent Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden in Tokyo, Japan. The annual music festival, started in 2011, presents exciting programmes that feature eminent soloists, collaborative musicians, and well-known ensembles.

On 19 June 2026 (Friday), Mr Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (Ms Ong’s conservatory professor and the current President of the Suntory Hall) and pianist Ms Michie Koyama performed a sold-out recital of French music from Debussy, Boulanger and Poulenc. We were at Nahre Sol's piano recital at the Victoria Concert Hall yesterday. Beautiful touch, tone and expression throughout the entire recital. And we were moved by her sense of humility, sensitivity and self-reflectivity.

We were at Pablo Ferrández and Zee Zee's recital at the Victoria Concert Hall last night (18 March 2025, Tuesday). The programme comprised familiar and favourite repertoire, including Beethoven's third cello sonata in A major and Brahms' first cello sonata in E minor.

Their positive synergy and stage presence are felt throughout the entire concert. It was a convivial experience tantalising both the sight and aural senses for the concertgoers.

On 11 March 2025 (Tuesday), Curtis Music School attended Kian Soltani and Amsterdam Sinfonietta's concert, under the direction of Candida Thompson. We enjoyed the programme, Amsterdam Sinfonietta's wonderfully warm and pure tone, and Soltani's exuberant interpretation of the Haydn C cello concerto very much. His cadenzas, deploying the use of multiple double-stops on the two lower strings, are spectacular and refreshing as well.
