Earlier this month, with the support and coordination of the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Science, our department welcomed 32 teachers to the annual Malaysian Teachers Science Camp. Over three enriching days, faculty members from our department, as well as Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics departments, facilitated enriching sessions, exchanging ideas, insights, and experiences with the participants. Beyond the learning, the camp provided a valuable opportunity to build connections, forge new friendships, and create lasting memories through shared experiences.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the faculty members who contributed their time and expertise to the Math Track session: Assoc Prof Yap Von Bing, Assoc Prof Victor Tan, Assoc Prof Kang Hway Chuan, Assoc Prof Duane Loh, Dr Hui Teng Chia, Dr Jonathon Teo, Dr Kenneth Hong ๐ŸŽ‰

Our students came together with participants from the IMS RIPS Summer Programme earlier this week for a one-day workshop titled The Techniques for Analysis of Data with Missing Values, conducted by Prof Loh Wei Yin.

The session concluded with a lunch networking gathering, where students had the opportunity to connect with Prof Loh, faculty members, and peers from different backgrounds, fostering meaningful conversations and new connections beyond the classroom.

As AI continues to shape the higher education landscape, our department's faculty members recently came together for a workshop on AI in research and teaching.

A/P Markus Kirchberg, A/P Vik Gopal and Dr Tan Yan Shuo shared their insights and experiences on the use of AI in data science workflows, teaching and research, while Dr David Chew highlighted how AI will be further integrated into our programmes to ensure our students are well-prepared for an AI-driven workforce.

The department also took the opportunity to show appreciation to our newly retired faculty members, Prof Choi Kwok Pui and Prof Loh Wei Liem. Thank you for your many years of dedication and contributions to the faculty, and for the lasting impact you have made on generations of students.

From Jakarta to Chennai, one of our undergraduates, Bernardino Lintang, took a bold step beyond Singapore to pursue internship opportunities overseas โ€” gaining not just technical experience, but also adaptability and a broader global perspective. ๐ŸŒ
