Dear friends and members of Yi Dojang, on the eve of the new year 2023, I like to wish everyone a superb new year ahead. On this occasion, I used a picture of berries from a Nanakamado Tree which I shot during my recent trip to Hokkaido.
"Nana" is seven and "kamado" means oven in Japanese. The name implies that this tree doesn't burn even if you put it into the oven seven times. That is how strong the Nanakamado Tree is.
I wish all of you be resilient, strong and prevail against what the new year may present. And emerge triumphant, prosperous, and happy!
Have a blessed Nanakamado year ahead! 🙏😃✊

Koryo (고려), the floor pattern symbolizes "seonbae", which means "learned man." The name of this poomsae memorializes the Koryo Dynasty (918 C.E. - 1392 C.E.) and reflects the indomitable will of the Korean people in the face of extreme adversity. The country name "Korea" derives from the word Koryo (also spelled Goryeo).

Day 3 see action with our seniors.
At this junction, I like to share something I heard personally from S'pore STF Grandmaster Lim Teong Chin's words of wisdom. - "As long as you are in the Championship, you are already a winner, regardless of the results. It's an achievement."
In my reflection, use your victory to spurge yourself on to greater heights, or use your defeat to train harder and aspire for loftier goals. And remember, thanks your opponents for the opportunity to know yourself better.

With more than half the year over, indeed the pace of time is really fast.. I see boys and girls once white belt , now taking poome belt grading, helping out as sparring partners in the examination, handing out grading cards when once, they were sitting pensively on the floor waiting for their turn to be called up. Time and tide wait for no one. Seize the moment ! make the best of time.... and gentle minder... once again, the National tournament is around the corner.
