Gan Eng Seng School Singapore This is the Official page of Gan Eng Seng School. Founded in 1885, Gan Eng Seng School (GESS) is one of the oldest schools in Singapore.

GESS was the first school to be set up by local Chinese, philanthropist Gan Eng Seng, and the first to form a parent-teachers' association in 1950. It was an all-boys school for 102 years until it become co-educational in 1987. By 1996, GESS was ranked 21st by the Ministry of Education (MOE) among the top 50 schools in Singapore. The school is currently located at Henderson Road in Bukit Merah on the western district of Singapore.

On 3rd September, we came together to celebrate our teachers and support staff — the people who guide, support and inspire us each day, helping our school community Shine As One. 🌟

Welcoming Delegates from India to GESS! 🇸🇬🇮🇳

Gan Eng Seng School was pleased to welcome a delegation of educators from India, facilitated through NIE International, on 2 September 2026 for a morning of professional learning and exchange.

We shared how GESS prepares students to be future-ready citizens through holistic development, distinctive programmes, the use of ICT and AI in teaching and learning, and our focus on staff professional growth and well-being. It was a valuable two-way exchange, with our visitors sharing PSBB Group of Schools’ initiatives aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP), as well as perspectives on the education systems in India.

The visit concluded with a school tour and further conversations among fellow educators. Our appreciation to NIE International for connecting us and making this meaningful exchange possible.

Eight of our Gessians proudly represented GESS at the 10th Nairong International Students’ Conference (NISC) in Bangkok, Thailand, from 17 to 21 August 2026! 🇸🇬🇹🇭

The conference provided a meaningful opportunity for our students to learn, exchange ideas and grow as global citizens alongside peers from diverse backgrounds. We are proud of them for stepping forward to represent the GESS family on an international platform. 🌏✨

What a journey, GESS!

Yesterday, our C Boys basketball team took to the court against EFSS for a incredibly tough battle. While the scoreboard didn't go our way, we never won the game, but we won the fight! 💪🔥

A massive shoutout to our incredible teachers and the Sec 2 cohort for showing up, cheering us on, and bringing unmatched energy. Not only was it great support, but it was also a fantastic learning experience for our Sec 2 spectators to pick up the rules of the game and proper court etiquette! 👏

We are beyond proud to announce that GESS has officially clinched 1st Runner-Up in the NSG Basketball C Boys League 3! 🥈🎉 Because of this commendable effort and grit, the team has earned a well-deserved promotion to League 2 for 2027! 🚀

A heartfelt thank you to all teachers and fellow Gessians for standing by us, pushing us forward, and believing in us every step of the way.

Today, our GESS community came together in red and white to mark Singapore’s 61st National Day with pride, gratitude and joy.

From our National Day Observance Ceremony, to the vibrant student performances and spirited community singing, the celebration reminded us of what it means to stand together as one people, one nation, one Singapore. ❤️🤍

We were also delighted to share the creativity and perspectives of our Gessians through a special student Art Exhibition in MPR1, where our guests had the opportunity to view and appreciate their works.

A heartfelt thank you to our Guest of Honour, Ms Carol Lee, and to our valued partners from the School Advisory Committee(SAC), GESS Old Students’ Association (GESSOSA), Parent-Teacher Association(PTA) and Gan Clan Singapore for celebrating this meaningful occasion with us.
