Mrs Kumar-English Tutor I’m a Singaporean tutor offering 1-to-1 coaching - kindergarten to O Level in English When I teach Science, I use mind-mapping when required.

I am a native Singaporean and have been coaching local and foreign students in their studies since 1999. Being an experienced teacher, I’m familiar with the local and TESOL curriculums. efore we start classes formally, I know what approach to apply in the classroom. My knowledge on Child Development and my varied experiences in the classroom help me to deal with children/youth/adults from pre-school to GCE 'O' Level/Grade 10 and above effectively. It’s been a long-standing tradition to receive presents on Teacher’s Day. It seems like an obligation but it need not be. However, after all the hours spent in teaching, correcting work, explaining things many times; sometimes to the extent of sounding like a ‘broken record’😅😜, it is nice to know that these approaches are remembered positively by students. How do I react when my student tells me, ‘’Mrs Kumar, I know it’s not easy to teach me.’’ For me, the real meaning of a Teacher’s Day present simply is: for a while, my student was thinking about me not just as a teacher but as a person.

I often find myself wondering how I can encourage my students to excel in the Oral Communication paper

So I ask them a simple question:

‘’Have you ever argued or gossiped before?’’

The reply is always a sheepish ‘’Yes’’

That’s interesting because nobody taught them how to do that yet they could do it

This also means - every child can speak!

With the right guidance, practice and techniques , every student can become a more confident and effective speaker 👌🏽
