"🚨 Work Permit (Performing Artiste) Scheme to Cease 🚨
📅 Effective 1 June 2026, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will stop accepting new applications under the Work Permit (Performing Artiste) scheme due to widespread abuse.
🗓 Key points to note:
• Existing Work Permit (Performing Artiste) holders may be retained until their passes expire or are cancelled
• The scheme, introduced in 2008, will be fully ceased as it no longer serves its original purpose
• Decision made after consultation with the Singapore Nightlife Business Association (SNBA) to allow businesses time to adjust
🔄 Alternative options for businesses:
• Engage performers via entertainment service providers
• Hire eligible foreign artistes under regular work passes

"**🚨 MDW Work Permit Rejected? Don’t Rush to Reapply!**

Did your Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) Work Permit application in Singapore get rejected? You may still be able to **appeal the decision** — but only if you can address the rejection reason or provide new supporting information.

Here’s what employers need to know 👇

# # # ⏰ 45-DAY APPEAL DEADLINE

An appeal must generally be submitted **within 45 days of the application outcome**.

⚠️ You cannot submit the appeal on the same day the application is rejected.
⚠️ Appeals submitted after 45 days will not be accepted.
⚠️ If the deadline is missed, you may need to submit a new application.

# # # 👤 WHO CAN APPEAL?

Only:
✅ The employer who submitted the application
✅ A licensed employment agency acting for the employer

❌ The MDW cannot appeal directly.

# # # 📋 BEFORE YOU APPEAL, CHECK:

1️⃣ **Review the rejection reason** in MOM’s FDW eService.

2️⃣ **Identify what went wrong** — such as incomplete documents, inconsistent information or eligibility concerns.

3️⃣ **Prepare new or corrected supporting documents**, where relevant.

4️⃣ **Submit the appeal through MOM’s FDW eService.**

Private organisations must cease using NRIC numbers (full or partial) for authentication by 31 Dec 2026.
From 1 Jan 2027, the PDPC will step up enforcement, including possible directions or financial penalties for non-compliance.
🔐 NRIC numbers must not be used as passwords or login credentials (e.g. combined with names or birthdates).
🏢 Government agencies have already phased this out, with IMDA, MAS, and MOH issuing sector-specific guidance.
