We shared these with our parents The Collective Knowledge on Mother’s Day. It’s so true that a mom’s presence and love means the world to their kids. Happy Mother’s Day to moms, grandmoms, godmoms and aunties! 💖

Most do not enjoy making mistakes but hey! 😩

It provides a good opportunity to reflect on where one went wrong and figure out how to avoid making the same mistakes again. Do you agree? ✅

While solving Math questions, a poor habit among students (and teachers included) is falling into the trap of assuming what the question is about by glossing quickly over the keywords. 🧑‍🏫

A question may seem similar to what we have encountered before, however at this moment, stop and read again thoroughly before proceeding to solve!

Another tip is to check for units stated in the Math question - is it cm or m? Or kg or g? Or min or seconds or hours?

Change all measurements to the same units before solving the word problem yah? 😄💪

Hello there, my dear students!

I understand that solving PSLE Math questions can be a daunting task for some of you. However, I am here to assure you that we can work through it together with love and care.

Let's take a look at this word problem from the Henry Park P6 SA1 2019 Paper. Don't worry if you find it challenging at first, we will break it down step by step and learn together!

Firstly, we will identify the pattern and find the length of each repeating pattern. This will help us better understand the problem and how to approach it.

Next, the question states that Strip A and Strip B have equal lengths. To solve this, we will need to find the Lowest Common Multiple.

Lastly, we will make sets and find the number of hearts in 1 set of Strip A and B. Then, we will figure out how many sets are needed to give us a total of 56 hearts.

Wow! That's three heuristic skills in one P6 Math word problem. I'm confident that with our combined efforts, we can tackle this challenge.

To make things even easier, I have prepared an online lesson video for you to watch. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have in the comments section. I am here to support you every step of the way!

If your child is in lower sec math currently, this video is definitely going to benefit them.

When they were first taught Making Subject of Formula questions in Sec 2, many students struggled.

Such questions will be tested in O level E Math paper.

This is a Sec 3 class who is learning the steps involved to express a single variable i.e. the subject of formula, on the LHS (left hand side) of equation with the rest to be brought to the RHS (right hand side) of equation.

Since day 1, we never fail to forget our mission and we want to thank all of our parents and students for joining us on this journey.

At the core of The Collective Knowledge’s experience and mission - our team of teachers aims to impact the lives of students, one at a time.

It takes a few dedicated individuals to invest in a child and that makes all the difference.

Exam stress is a common issue that affects many students, and as a parent, it can be difficult to watch your child struggle.

While a little pressure can push one further, too much stress can cause self-doubt and affect the working memory.

This stress - coupled with the pressure to do well - can be distressing, especially for younger students.

However, there are many things you can do to help your child cope with exam stress and improve their overall well-being during this challenging time.

Are you struggling to get your child to school on time?😫

You're not alone. Many parents face the same challenge every morning.

As a parent, knowing how to handle a situation when your child is habitually late for school can be difficult.

On the one hand, you would want to ensure that your child understands the importance of punctuality, but on the other hand, you don't want to damage your relationship with them. 😵

So, what should you do when your child is late for school?

Here are 5 approaches you could take while improving in your relationship with your child:

1. Identify the underlying cause of tardiness 🔍

Before taking action, it's important to understand the underlying cause of your child's tardiness.

Are they sleeping late? Affected emotionally by what's said or happening in school?

Once you understand the root cause, you can take steps to address it.

2. Communicate to a common understanding between you and your child. 💬

Explain to them the importance of being on time and the consequences of being late.

Listen to their perspectives and show understanding by not disagreeing with their point of view.

By communicating with your child and having an open dialogue, you can work together to find a solution.

3. Set clear and consistent rules. 👩‍⚖️

If your child is late for school, it's important to have clear and consistent rules.

For example, you can take away a privilege such as screen time or have them engage in chores at home.

The key is ensuring the consequence is related to the infraction and is something your child values.

4. Focus on the behavior and not the child 👦👧

It's important to remember that your child's tardiness is a behavior, not a reflection of their character.

Rather than labeling them, focus on addressing the behavior and helping your child to develop good habits.

5. Encourage and praise positive behavior 👍

Remember to encourage and praise your child when they are on time for school.

Positive reinforcement is an effective way to change behavior, and it will help to build a positive relationship between you and your child.

Ultimately, the key to dealing with a child who is habitually late for school is to approach the situation with understanding, communicate and be consistent.

By taking the time to understand your child's perspective and working together to find a solution, you can help your child to develop good habits and arrive at school on time.

1 year is enough to jump from normal academic to express stream.

PSLE result is releasing in less than a month!

As parents we are all anxious and excited about how well our child do…

Will they get into express, NA or NT stream? 😨

At the end of the day, we must know that what’s done is done.

If the result is good, celebrate with them! 🎊

If the result isn’t as expected, celebrate with them too! 🎉

Because we all know that our child did their best.

Here’s why I say so,

This is Inez, last year she received her result and was utterly disappointed to be in the NA stream.

But did she give up? Nope.

Did her parents give up on her? Nope.

After a year attending our lower secondary science and math classes…

Now she’s being offered a promotion to express in Sec 2! 🤩

Amazing isn’t it?

We have other students like Joshua, who is the top in class when it comes to Sec 2 Express Science.

And many other more champions in The Collective Knowledge. 🏆

If Inez and Joshua can do it, your child can too.

If your child’s result isn’t ideal or struggled with Sec 1 Science or Math in 2022, we are just one click away.☝🏻

I’ll place the link in the first comment to sign up for our Secondary 1 Headstart Program starting in Mid Nov 2022! 🙌🏻
