Being Area B3 Director & Club Coach shaped me because it gave me the opportunity to look beyond my own club and serve a wider group of members. I learned that leadership is not just about organising activities or giving directions, but about listening, encouraging, supporting, and bringing people together. It challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, communicate with different people, and take responsibility for the growth and success of others. Through this experience, I became more confident and learned to lead with greater patience and understanding.

I would encourage every Toastmaster considering the DTM to go for it. See it as a journey of growth, leadership and service. My advice is to take it one step at a time, be willing to serve, and donโt be afraid to ask for help. You donโt have to be perfect or have everything figured out before you begin. Along the way, you will discover strengths you didnโt know you had, build meaningful relationships, and make a difference in the lives of other Toastmasters.
Most importantly, enjoy the journey. The DTM is not just about reaching the destinationโit is about who you become and the people you inspire along the way.
