on achieving the prestigious title of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM)! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅณ after joining LKAI for almost 6 years on 8 August 2026.

๐‘พ๐’‰๐’Š๐’„๐’‰ ๐’†๐’™๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’†๐’๐’„๐’† ๐’๐’ ๐’š๐’๐’–๐’“ ๐‘ซ๐‘ป๐‘ด ๐’‹๐’๐’–๐’“๐’๐’†๐’š ๐’”๐’‰๐’‚๐’‘๐’†๐’… ๐’š๐’๐’– ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’Ž๐’๐’”๐’•, ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐’˜๐’‰๐’š?
Being Area B3 Director & Club Coach shaped me because it gave me the opportunity to look beyond my own club and serve a wider group of members. I learned that leadership is not just about organising activities or giving directions, but about listening, encouraging, supporting, and bringing people together. It challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, communicate with different people, and take responsibility for the growth and success of others. Through this experience, I became more confident and learned to lead with greater patience and understanding.

๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’˜๐’๐’–๐’๐’… ๐’š๐’๐’– ๐’”๐’‚๐’š ๐’•๐’ ๐’‚ ๐‘ป๐’๐’‚๐’”๐’•๐’Ž๐’‚๐’”๐’•๐’†๐’“ ๐’˜๐’‰๐’ ๐’Š๐’” ๐’„๐’๐’๐’”๐’Š๐’…๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’‘๐’–๐’“๐’”๐’–๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐‘ซ๐‘ป๐‘ด?
I would encourage every Toastmaster considering the DTM to go for it. See it as a journey of growth, leadership and service. My advice is to take it one step at a time, be willing to serve, and donโ€™t be afraid to ask for help. You donโ€™t have to be perfect or have everything figured out before you begin. Along the way, you will discover strengths you didnโ€™t know you had, build meaningful relationships, and make a difference in the lives of other Toastmasters.
Most importantly, enjoy the journey. The DTM is not just about reaching the destinationโ€”it is about who you become and the people you inspire along the way.

With ๐’๐ฆ๐ž๐๐ฅ๐ž๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐, we were just as attracted to aim for this higher goal.

Although the challenge is bigger, with a higher membership quota to fill , we just planned .. to achieve the education points & the membership target.

There were times we felt uncertain of succeeding .... but we continued to plod on .... until we saw breakthroughs in both membership and education goals ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿน๐ŸŽ‰

Motivated and identified members who could complete levels and contribute DCPs to help reach the goal.

Reminded members to persevere to attain the goal.

Regularly posted LKAI updated chart from the D80 Dashboard to get members excited about our progress ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ‰

We planned additional chapter meetings on specific dates specially for the convenience of members to present their projects or did their meeting roles .

We finally achieved it on 8 May 2026 ... Fri ... at a hybrid meeting that started with a torrential thunderstorm ๐Ÿน๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽŠ

Members and friends had a great time enjoying the customised cake with strawberry sponge, vanilla cream, and mango filling. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹
This flavour combination was chosen by CP Chou Yee Fee and designed by VPE Yip Li Xian.
We also got to listen to inspiring stories and history of LKAI from Club Founder Patrick Oei, DTM, PID, and a few Senior Toastmasters, including Past District Director Ng Cher Khim, DTM, and Charter Member Martinn Ho, DTM.
