24 July 2026 | Theme: One Thing that always makes my day better
The meeting included prepared speeches, an interactive Table Topics session, thoughtful evaluations, and a thorough General Evaluation. Each part gave members chances to participate, listen, and grow, with feedback supporting everyoneโs progress as communicators and leaders.
๐คSergeant at Arms:
Menaka, our Sergeant at Arms, opened the meeting by introducing the theme, "One Thing That Always Makes My Day Better." She encouraged everyone to think about and share what brings them joy or comfort each day. As members shared their stories and perspectives, the room filled with laughter, smiles, and real connections. Hearing each otherโs experiences was a reminder that even simple things can lift our spirits and bring us closer together, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the meeting.
After a warm welcome, Menaka invited our Toastmaster of the Day to take charge of the meeting.
๐ค Toastmaster of the Day:
Yimon took on the role of Toastmaster of the Day, seamlessly guiding everyone from one part of the meeting to the next. The evening unfolded with meaningful stories, shared wisdom, and moments that brought the group closer together.
Following this, the Opening Address ushered in the next phase of the meeting.
๐คOpening Address:
Yimon, our Immediate Past President, shared heartfelt remarks that set a positive tone for the evening. Her message encouraged everyone to embrace the spirit of learning and growth that defines Toastmasters.
Motivated by her words, the meeting continued with the prepared speeches.
๐คPrepared Speeches:
โจ Sankar, our thoughtful speaker, delivered his speech titled "The Power of One Encouraging Voice." He explained that feedback isnโt about finding faults, itโs about helping others discover their strengths. Sankar shared how, at a time when he was struggling to manage, a teacher offered encouragement and support. He reminded us:
People will forget what you say,
People will forget what you did,
But people will never forget how you made them feel.
โจ Shanmugam, our inspiring speaker, delivered his speech titled "Unhelpful Thought Patterns." He explained how both positive and negative thinking can shape our lives, with some people naturally focusing on the positive and others on the negative. Shanmugam emphasized that unhelpful patterns such as worry, depression, and hopelessness can hold us back, and encouraged everyone to focus more on positive thoughts rather than unhealthy negative ones.
โจ Gaoping, our dedicated speaker, delivered his speech titled "Progress Over Perfection." He emphasized the importance of focusing on one step at a time and embracing steady progress. Gaoping spoke about the doubts that can come with making big decisions, such as starting a business, and encouraged everyone to keep moving forward on their professional paths by always considering the next small step and finding ways to inspire themselves along the way.
โจ Shanmuga Priya, our passionate speaker, delivered her speech titled "The Woman I Never Met." She reflected on how one important question, what do you want your audience to remember, helped her discover a deeper purpose as a speaker. Through Toastmasters, she realized that completing projects not only helps her become a better speaker, but also a better person. She emphasized how a mentorโs belief can help overcome fear and inspire self-confidence, encouraging everyone to seek out mentors who can help them achieve their best.
๐คTable Topics Master:
Ng Kah King brought fresh energy to the Table Topics segment, encouraging participants to think quickly and share their thoughts on the spot. The spontaneous responses added excitement to the meeting, giving everyone a chance to practice impromptu speaking in a supportive setting.
Once Table Topics concluded, attention turned to the prepared speakers. The evaluation session provided thoughtful feedback, helping each speaker reflect on their performance and continue growing in their public speaking journey.
๐คEvaluators:
Just as a coach guides athletes to improve with every practice, thoughtful evaluations help speakers grow. A heartfelt thank you to Ting Wei, Ng Kah King, Shanmugapriya, and Charlene for their thoughtful feedback, turning every speech into another step of growth.
๐คTimer:
Shanmugam, our Timer, diligently tracked how long each speaker and evaluator spoke. His careful record-keeping encouraged everyone to be mindful of their time and strive for clear, impactful communication.
๐คA Thoughtful Look Back - Tejasriโs General Evaluation: โจTejasri took on the role of General Evaluator, guiding us through a thoughtful reflection of the entire meeting. She began with how smoothly the meeting started, noted the friendly atmosphere during the break, and highlighted the teamwork that kept everything on track.
