Thank You for Making Cognition Awareness Day 2024 a Success!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for Cognition Awareness Day 2024! We’re thrilled to have welcomed over 300 attendees to a day filled with insights and inspiration.
The event opened with a speech by our Guest of Honour, Prof Chin Jing Jih (Deputy Group CEO, Clinical & Academic Development, and Chairman of NHG), followed by Prof Joseph Sung (Dean of LKCMedicine and Senior Vice President, Health & Life Sciences) delivering the Dean’s Speech.
We would like to thank Dr. Rachel Chin Yee Cheong, Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for sharing valuable insights on dementia prevention.
Our Director, Prof Nagaendran Kandiah spoke on the role of digital diagnostics for cognitive diseases and Mohammed Adnan Azam our Technology Lead, shared about the digital products being developed at DRCS.
Attendees also enjoyed interactive booths and hands-on experiences with our digital cognitive tools, making the day a memorable opportunity to connect and learn about advancements in cognitive health. Your enthusiasm and engagement drive our mission forward, and we’re grateful for your support in advancing cognitive health through technology.

We are thrilled to have showcased our cognitive health platform ReCOGnAIze at the Innovation Showcase 🎤🚀
A heartfelt thank you to Puei Nam and Kiruthikha from the LKC Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for their incredible support in organizing the booth and the talk, making this event a success.
Adnan shared insights about how ReCOGnAIze aims to enable early detection and intervention for vascular mild cognitive impairment (MCI) through neuroscience backed games.
We had the pleasure of connecting with our funding partners, NHIC and SMART, and engaging with other forward-thinking healthcare professionals and organizations 🤝

🌟 Big Wins for Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) at Singapore Health & Biomedical Congress (SHBC) 2024! 🌟
We are proud to announce that our talented team at the Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) received recognition at the Singapore Health & Biomedical Congress (SHBC) 2024 for their ground-breaking research! 🎉
✨Yi Jin Leow clinched the Silver award in the Singapore Young Investigator Award (Clinical Research) for her oral presentation:
“Mild Behavioural Impairment as a Clinical Correlate of Early Neurodegeneration.”
She also presented a poster titled:
"The Combination of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms and Blood-based Biomarkers: A New Strategy for Early Detection of Cognitive Disorders."
✨ Bocheng QIU earned the Bronze award for Best Poster Award (Clinical Research) with his research on:
"Retinal Biomarkers for Early Detection of Cognitive Impairment." 🥉
✨ Pricilia Tanoto presented a poster titled:
"The Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test (FCSRT) as a Screening Tool for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in a Multiethnic Population."
✨ Gursimar (Simar) Bhalla presented research exploring:
"Cognitive Reserve in Southeast Asian Working Adults: Influence of Behavioural and Lifestyle Factors."
✨ Ashwati Vipin, PhD also showcased her research, which focused on:
"Automatic Brain Segmentation with AQUA: A Comparative Validation Study in the Southeast Asian BIOCIS Cohort."
Both Jin and Ashwati also had the honor of presenting their posters to Associate Professor Bernard Thong, Chairman of the Medical Board 👏

DRCS flew 70% of our team to Bandung, Indonesia for the Asian Society Against Dementia (ASAD) 2023. We were honoured to have represented DRCS as speakers, young researcher oral presenters and poster presenters. We had an invaluable experience learning about the latest drugs and different treatment modalities for dementia. Dr Ashwati won 1st prize for poster presentation! Big thank you to Prof Anam for hosting us. Look forward to the next ASAD in Penang!

AAIC 2023 was held in Amsterdam July 16-20. DRCS was represented by A/Prof Nagaendran, Dr Ashwati, See Ann, Jin and our intern James. This year we learnt alot about digital multidomain cognitive and lifestyle interventions. We are developing our own digital multidomain interventions at DRCS soon! Watch this space.
