Set up in late 2009, our club aims to cultivate an interest and platform for students to discuss local and global issues. Events held by our Club will help build your confidence and clarity with current affairs, making you a better representative of your thoughts and beliefs that you want to share and build for the benefit of others and the world. Since our humble beginnings, we have participated
in the ASEAN Day reception, Chancellor’s Challenge Shield (CCS) 2010 and “Rights and Responsibilities” workshop by Maruah (Singapore Working Group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism). Also, we have hosted a series of TCP-CAC Dialogue sessions with the Interpol President, Mr. Khoo Boon Hui, Ambassador-At-Large Mr Ong Keng Yong, People’s Association Chief Executive Director Mr Yam Ah Mee and MFA Director of Special Duties Mr Paul Koh. These sessions were well-received by more than 200 students per run. Other than dialogues, members also attend weekly Meet-the-People sessions. It is a wonderful exposure and experience hearing about the needs of our people and how they attempt to seek help from their respective MPs. This will not only train one’s mind to think fast while writing a letter on their behalf but also make one to understand the operations of policies in Singapore. We aim to inspire greater interest and participation by engaging students with prominent personalities from the political, corporate and civil scene. The different needs of our members are met through a host of projects, events and activities which are non-partisan and non-ideology based. Our CCA is running at an ad-hoc basis, inviting our members to significant events that will increase their understanding of issues that challenge Singapore and the world. We believe that by doing so, our members will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a positive difference in their communities and societies. Our Ngee Ann Current Affairs Club page is regularly updated with updates and interesting facts going around the world. We hope you will also support us by liking our page to receive the latest updates and participate actively by giving feedback and joining the activities the club organises.
