On 19 May 2026, Hwa Chong welcomed around 200 students from seven West Zone schools for a special Fireside Chat with Mr James D**g, CEO of Lazada Group, organised in partnership with ImpactSG. 💬
Through his personal journey and experiences, Mr D**g shared candid insights on navigating change, embracing opportunities, and staying resilient in an evolving world. Students also heard his perspectives on entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, AI, personal branding, and the importance of remaining open to new experiences.
The session encouraged students to think more deeply about their future pathways and the choices that shape both personal and professional growth. Selected students, including our High School DSA Entrepreneurship students, also had the opportunity to take part in a closed-door dialogue with Mr D**g, where they asked questions and gained practical advice on entrepreneurship and building ideas in today’s fast-changing landscape. 🚀
We thank Mr D**g, ImpactSG, and our West Zone partners for making this meaningful exchange possible. 🌟

✨ From 16 - 22 May 2026 across various locations in Indonesia, our students experienced learning beyond the classroom through cultural immersion, school exchanges, combined excursions, and shared experiences with our partners at Darma Yudha Senior High in Pekanbaru and Jakarta Nanyang School in Tangerang. 🌏🤝
From classroom activities and cultural performances to community interactions and meaningful conversations, the immersion provided students with opportunities to deepen their appreciation of Indonesia’s diverse culture, values and hospitality, while reflecting on their own roles as global citizens within ASEAN, especially during their dialogue with an embassy official - also a HCI alumnus - at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta.
What made the experience especially memorable was the warmth and generosity extended by our partner schools - school leaders, teachers and student ambassadors who journeyed closely with us throughout the programme. 💫
Through these shared moments, students not only built friendships and cross-cultural understanding, but also gained a deeper appreciation of empathy, adaptability and partnership in an interconnected world.🌱
Terima kasih to our partners and hosts for making this exchange such a meaningful one. ❤️
Sampai jumpa lagi! 👋

53rd Students’ Council Investiture: On 14 May, the 52nd Students’ Council officially stepped down, passing the baton to the incoming 53rd Students’ Council. The ceremony served as an opportunity to thank the outgoing batch for their dedication, while welcoming the 53rd Council as they begin their service.
We were honoured to have Ms Claire Soon, the 34th Students’ Council President, as our Guest-of-Honour. In her address, she shared words of wisdom to the C1s, encouraging the incoming councillors to lead with confidence and reminding them of their capabilities.
From the school cheer that showed Hwa Chong’s fiery spirit to the seniors badging their juniors, the investiture was nothing short of heartwarming and inspiring. As our councillors linked arms, the ceremony closed with the singing of “当你孤单你会想起谁”, echoing the shared spirit from the heart of Council.
We are deeply grateful to the 52nd Students’ Council for their service. 🎉 Finally, we wish the 53rd Students’ Council all the best in their journey ahead, and place our trust in them as they take on the responsibility of serving the school! 💛

✨【2026 Sec 3 Kuala Lumpur Cultural Immersion】✨
From cultural landmarks to scientific discoveries, from diplomatic insights to meaningful friendships, the 5-day Kuala Lumpur Cultural Immersion Programme from 18–22 May 2026 was truly a journey of learning beyond the classroom. 🌏
At the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, students gained deeper insights into Singapore–Malaysia relations, ASEAN partnerships, and the importance of regional cooperation in an interconnected world. 🤝🇸🇬🇲🇾
Students also experienced Malaysia’s rich multicultural identity firsthand — from exploring the iconic Batu Caves to participating in cultural exchange activities with Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah. Through traditional dance, batik painting, congkak, and meaningful interactions, they developed a deeper appreciation for Malaysian culture while forging genuine cross-cultural friendships. The visit to the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory further introduced students to Malaysia’s rich craftsmanship heritage, where they learnt about the resilience and innovation behind one of the country’s most iconic industries and even created their own pewter bowls. 🛕🎨🏺
The immersion continued at FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia), where students explored conservation science, biodiversity, and sustainability through laboratory visits, nature trekking, and an unforgettable skywalk above the rainforest canopy. 🌳🔬
More than just a trip, this immersion programme deepened students’ understanding of ASEAN, broadened their regional perspectives, and reminded them that the most meaningful learning happens when cultures connect and experiences are shared. ❤️
