Let us continue on our learning journey today on steps to a successful SEO!

We discussed about the steps to a successful SEO in our sharing yesterday, so in today’s sharing, let us talk about how we can measure SEO success.

To measure SEO success, one would have to look into reports and analytics, as these two are important components to enhance your marketing strategies.

To do that, look into your findings/reports of implementing the different steps required to a success SEO with the following questions:

1. Which/What content on your website appealed to your customers?
2. Which page on your website was the least or most visited? Do you know why?
3. Were there any UX issues on your website?
4. Which on-page (content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized) SEO changes yielded the highest rankings?
5. Which keywords to focus on for future SEO improvements?

As for analysis, a software like Google Analytics will provide much insights for your SEO success. The good news is that Google Analytics is free! You don’t have to pay to receive insights to your SEO analysis, but if you would like to use some of the more advanced features and on Google Analytics, there is a fee to be made.

Report and analytics can most definitely provide the much needed insights you require for improving your business, website and marketing strategies through SEO, but, there should always be a focus on how these information can help you to also make well-informed decisions into your marketing strategy budget.

What exactly is SEM?

As opposed to the discussion we had previously on SEO, where websites and businesses take on an organic approach to improve their marketing strategies, SEM differs from SEO, because SEM is a
digital marketing strategy that relies on paid searches or paid advertising to increase the traffic and visibility to a website.

SEM also differs from paid social media advertising, and we will be discussing about paid social media advertising in the weeks to come, but for now, let us look into the world of SEM.

SEM garners traffic and visibility through organic and paid search. So how do you work on improving and stepping up on your SEM game? 🎮

Let us share some tips on how you can do this.

1. Choose a suitable SEM platform. There are a few popular SEMs out there like Google Ads, Yahoo Ads,
Bing Ads etc., and do ensure that you have a budget that you are comfortable to work with. 💰

2. Start small and do not rush into expansion of your SEM strategy as you do not want to be overwhelmed.
With a small start, you can then fully analyse results and make improvements to your SEM strategy. 🤏

3. Finetune your keyword and phrase search. Think about how you can work on improving your keywords
and phrases by coming up with different variations, as these will help to boost traffic to your site. 🔑

4. Be constant and consistent with your SEM messaging and landing page message, as you want your audience to be led to your page without confusion. 📝

5. Beef up your landing page content and design. Keep design simple and clean and share relevant information
on your page, as that will ensure good conversion rates. 🎨

6. Remember to use scripts to automate your ad campaigns through your selected SEM platform of choice. You won’t want to lose time to performing such manual tasks when you can automate this function. 📠

7. Review your ad performance regularly to work on improvements. When you realise that your ads have been gaining traction for your site, do ensure that you keep reviewing your ad performance to make the necessary adjustments and enhancements. ⚖️

Don’t be intimidated with the thought and action of going on the path of SEM for your business because you will be surprised with just how much you can achieve even if you don’t have a big budget to being with. 👩🏻‍🎓

In this week, we have discussed about the two digital marketing strategies - SEO and SEM.
Is there a better strategy between the two for your online business? 💭

Let us address this in our sharing today. 📤

Both SEO and SEM can be assimilated for your online business, but do remember to have a main focus between the both, otherwise, be very savvy in blending both strategies.

There are some questions that you would need to address if you are using either or both strategies:

1. Is there a need for speed in your online business success? If there is not, and you are still doing market research,
do opt for the SEO strategy, as you can grow your audience organically ☑️

2. Analyse the industry that your business is in, and then decide if SEO is a better strategy over SEM, as some
industries that are competitive will perhaps require the decision maker of an online business to use the SEM over
SEO strategy🔘

3. With the assimilation of both SEO and SEM strategies, you can grow your online business organically with the use
of SEO, and concurrently use SEM to ‘test’ waters with a new service or product. With these two strategies, you can most definitely gain and collect valuable data from your audience📊

4. With SEM, you can make a choice as to who you would want as your target audience, whereas for SEO, you are
unable to do that and will not be able to control who will see your search results, so this must be considered 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

5. Finally, SEM taps on your budget. Each time a user clicks on an SEM result leading to your site, you will have to pay whereas for SEO, there is no payment required for this organic process 🧐

Whilst there is no better strategy between the two, as there are different variables that can be derived and success achieved from both, and the choice of which digital marketing strategy to use would depend entirely on the business📈

Do remember to always consider important factors such as your objectives, goals and budget📅
