EVER SINCE THE BOYS CAN WALK, they have been introduced to the world of making and creating. Usually with the things around them and usually toys or play tools, because we why buy when you can make? π€βπΎ.
Karung Guni Boy was one of the first few local books we introduced and because they could relate to Ming so much, they love it a lot!
That's why when we were invited to watch, they were super excited, they even wanted to take a pic at the big banner! (Usually they refuse haha score one point for me!).
As we walked in, H2 said "I'm the original Karung Guni Boy!"
H1 chimed in with a "No, it's me! I started building earlier than you."
[Scroll to see their creations! Last vid, H1 has started to invent his own boardgame.]
Throughout the play, both boys were transfixed on Ming and the things he created (yes even the 9yo was watching intently tho he won't admit π« ). That element of creating and play and pretend play and using our imagination to create something from nothing and especially items that people think are nothing - is so special to us and the boys. I felt how proud they feel for Ming as he finished his masterpiece that helped others. And of course, that moment that they joined in to help was also magical haha for the 1st time, H2 wanted to go down on his own.
PLAYtime! makes the boys feel so at home, and Karung Guni Boy is no different. We really loved the play! π
So after the play, the boys asked- who is the original Karung Guni Boy? ... Mudd, the one who taught the boys how! (Just π at the elaborate things he made!).
And of course, Ming from Karung Guni Boy too! π An inspiration to children who loves making!
