What happens when young minds and heritage communities come together?

The inaugural CTRL+HERITAGE Youth Symposium & Hackathon brought together passionate youths from across Singapore to explore how our living heritage can remain relevant, meaningful, and impactful for future generations.

Over two days, participants journeyed through multicultural Chinatown, engaged community stakeholders, learnt from heritage practitioners and industry mentors, and co-created ideas inspired by the people, places, and traditions that shape our shared identity.

We were honoured to have Minister of State Jasmin Lau 刘洁敏 join us as Guest of Honour, affirming the importance of empowering youths to play an active role in shaping the future of our heritage landscape.

A heartfelt thank you to our Supporting Partners National Heritage Board and Singapore Pools in the Community for believing in the power of youth leadership and helping make this inaugural platform possible.

To our mentors, speakers, community stakeholders, volunteers, and participants — thank you for your generosity, insights, and commitment to nurturing the next generation of heritage champions.

The conversations may have started over one weekend, but the journey continues. Together, we are not only preserving heritage — we are creating its next chapter.

CTRL+HERITAGE 2026 is a wrap! 🎉

Over two inspiring days, youths explored Singapore's living heritage, met community stakeholders, learned from heritage practitioners and mentors, and transformed insights into ideas for the future.

From learning labs and Chinatown learning journeys to hackathon brainstorming sessions and rapid-fire pitching, participants challenged themselves to think differently about how heritage can remain relevant, accessible, and engaging for future generations.

A heartfelt thank you to National Heritage Board, Singapore Pools, Glass Dome, our speakers, mentors, stakeholders, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and every participant who made this journey possible.

This is only the beginning. Stay tuned as we continue working with youths and community partners to bring some of these ideas to life.

Behind every great idea is a mentor who helps shape it. This year, CTRL+HERITAGE participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from an incredible lineup of heritage practitioners, community leaders, educators, curators, storytellers, researchers, and advocates. From heritage trails and community engagement to museums, libraries, placemaking, storytelling, and cultural preservation, our mentors bring decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge to guide participants as they develop their ideas.

Whether you're passionate about culture, community, design, storytelling, technology, or social impact, you'll gain valuable insights, feedback, and connections to help turn your ideas into action.
