Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22, is a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life. First celebrated in 1970, this year marks its 52nd Anniversary.
The healthier our ecosystems are, the healthier the planet – and its people. This will only succeed if everyone plays a part.
Over here at Tenaga, we would like to educate our future generation the importance of caring for the environment through a series of activities.
The teacher did storytelling, watching of videos, art & craft, picking up rubbish & second hand flea market.
The children were taught that a small act of picking up rubbish can help to take care of the environment and make the place a cleaner one for everyone to live in. They learned how to differentiate a normal rubbish bin(green) and a recycle bin(blue). Apart from that, the children learned about the materials that can be recycled and how to recycle them.
We organized a second hand flea market to encourage the children to bring an item from home that they are not using anymore to give away to their friends. This is to let them know that certain items in mint condition can be reuse or give away if they do not need it anymore.
Lastly, we would like to thank the parents who took part in the celebration by donating their old clothes and shoes. We will be giving away to the less fortunate people out there.

SSDB 2022 - Our Family, Our Community
Theme: Caring for Our Environment
Throw back to our SSDB Launch Party on Thursday! Tenaga is fortunate to be nestle among lush greeneries and a beautiful community garden.
Our project title this year is “Caring for Our Environment' which we will be working with NParks and also the RC chairman to revamp the butterfly garden behind the school. We will also be making a bold statement on reduce, reuse and recycle. We want to bring awareness to the children to take care of the earth that we are living in. We will be doing flea market and also donating 2nd hand items to different organzation.
Children were very excited about the Launch Party, especially when opening up the package and were curious about what is awaiting them in the project. We had a discussion for children to share their thoughts about the project and to also let them have an idea of what to expect in the upcoming weeks.
As part of the launch party, the children help to clean up the butterfly garden by clearing the overgrown grass and weeds. They learned that plants are living things that breath and drink water like human beings. So as part of the clearing process, they say their 'thank you' speech to the plants. They even spotted a cocoon and learn some life skills about using gardening tools. The children were very excited about the project and looking forward to the various activities for the next 6 months.

We are proud participant of NLB’s Read With Me: A Book A Day Reading Campaign. This campaign aims to promote reading aloud to children aged 6 years and below.
