Cross-contamination: If raw meat or poultry comes into contact with ready-to-eat food, such as salads or sandwich fillings, it can spread harmful bacteria like Salmonella or Escherichia coli.

Improper storage: Food that is not stored at the correct temperature can spoil quickly and lead to food poisoning. This can happen if a refrigerator is not working properly or if food is left out at room temperature for too long.

Inadequate cooking: If food is not cooked to the correct temperature, harmful bacteria can survive and cause illness. This can happen with meats like chicken or beef that are not cooked all the way through.

Poor hygiene: Employees who do not wash their hands properly or who handle food with dirty utensils or gloves can introduce harmful bacteria to the food.

Using expired or contaminated ingredients: Using expired or contaminated ingredients can also cause foodborne illness. For example, using milk or cream that has gone bad in a recipe can lead to illness.
