Choosing toys can feel so overwhelming. There are so many options, and every toy seems to promise learning, fun, and development.

When choosing toys from a Montessori perspective, it can help to slow down and ask a few simple questions:

Is this toy suited to my child’s current stage of development?
Does it help practise a real skill?
Is it simple and clear in its purpose?
Can my child use it independently?
Does it encourage concentration rather than distraction?
Is it made of real, beautiful, and lasting materials?
Does it invite active play instead of passive entertainment?

These questions can make toy choices feel much easier.

A few well chosen toys are much more valuable than a big shelf full of noisy and distracting ones.

Thank you 2025! You were good to me.

And I like this idea to keep this memory here, especially living in a country with no seasons where I have no idea when things happened 🙈 ( I just spoke to someone saying that workshop with Junnifa was a few months ago, but it is almost a year!!!!)

Also, I hope I showed you that though it was good it was far from perfect. There were many difficulties and learning lessons, a lot of sick kids and parents too (eg. on my dream trip to AU I had a tonsillitis and it was pretty bad for couple of days). I had many failures with my company (playgroups that didn't happen, strategies that were so bad and frustrating) but my biggest take away is that I learnt to accept it and still move forward.

I'm grateful for this community here, thank you for joining me on this journey through Montessori, parenting, mompreneurship and everything else. You are the best. Love you!

I'm excited to see what will 2026 bring.

Hi friends 👋
I’m sharing this list of toy ideas from IKEA – easy to access and mostly really budget-friendly. The plastic stacking toy has been a big hit with both of my children for many years – perfect for sand, water play, or keeping little hands busy while we wait at a café. The train set is another long-lasting favourite. I love the quality and simplicity of these toys: by being “passive,” they invite children to be active, creative, and deeply engaged. I hope this list helps you choose a few keepers for your home. 🎄✨

Every parent knows the moment: the melting child, the overwhelming feeling, the urge to just say “fine, take it.”
But staying steady and following through isn’t mean. It’s supportive.
It teaches kids they can do hard things, even with big feelings, because we’re right there guiding them.

What was your hard moment this week? Did you follow through or gave up this time? Share your story in comments
