Montfort Junior School

💫 On Sunday, 23 August, MJS joined Catholic schools across Singapore to celebrate Catholic Education Sunday. Our students participated in the 11:00 am Sunday Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration, joining the parish community in prayer and worship. We are grateful to Rev. Fr. Gabriel Wong and the parish community for welcoming our students so warmly and for working closely with us throughout the celebration.

It was a beautiful moment of community—homes, school, and parish united—and a meaningful opportunity for our students to live out and demonstrate their faith in action.

At MJS, we seek to form students in the Christe values of compassion, respect, and humility, nurturing in them a love of God and neighbour. Inspired by our founder, St. Louis-Marie de Montfort, who devoted his life to preaching Christ and serving the poor, we encourage every Montfortian to put faith into action through loving service to others—becoming truly “A Man for Others.”

Catholic education is a shared journey, incomplete without the active participation of parishes, teachers, schools, and families. We are grateful to everyone who helps shape the lives of our students. 💙💛

This year’s National Day commemoration was extra special at Montfort Junior School as Singapore’s 61st birthday (SG61) came together with Montfort’s 110th anniversary (M110) — a powerful celebration of nation, heritage, values and the Montfortian spirit!
On 7 August, the celebrations began with a joint Observance Ceremony with Montfort Secondary School, bringing the Montfort family together in pride and unity. This was followed by an energetic hall programme before students returned to their classrooms for a special National Day lesson marking the 60th anniversary of our Singapore Pledge — a timely reminder of the promises and values that unite us as one people.
The SG61 × M110 spirit had already been building momentum throughout the week! During recess, Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) engaged our students through meaningful activities centred on kindness and graciousness. At the same time, our amazing parent volunteers brought SG61 and M110 to life through fun-filled recess games and activities — connecting Singapore’s story with Montfort’s proud 110-year legacy.
Together, we honour our past, celebrate who we are and GO BEYOND towards our shared future!

🎊A heartfelt thank you to our staff and students who made our Montfort 110th Anniversary Dinner a night to remember! From our Student Leaders who took charge of ushering and coordination, our Makers who showcased their creativity through beautifully crafted coasters and thoughtfully designed prototypes built through the Design Thinking process, our Dance team who lit up the stage with their performance, to our School Admin Team who ensured everything ran seamlessly from start to end — every detail came together so smoothly because of the dedication and ownership each of you brought to your segment. 🙌

A special shoutout to our students who poured their heart and creativity into crafting the art pieces presented to our donors and Guest of Honour Minister Desmond Lee. The thought and care behind every piece made it truly meaningful. We are incredibly proud of you. 🎨

🤩😊 Montfortians came together to celebrate the richness of Singapore’s multiracial and multicultural heritage through games, food and meaningful shared experiences.

Clad in their colourful traditional attires, our students enjoyed traditional games like chapteh, hopscotch and five stones during their recess. They also took part in a racial harmony quiz where they learnt about the cultures of the different races through the information display boards before answering on paper. Throughout, our boys approached those activities with respect and earnestness.

Besides the games, our students got to keep a memory of the day by having a photo taken with their friends at the photo booth set up by one of our parent volunteers. The school canteen vendors too extended their support for the celebration by selling food of the different races like gado-gado, epok-epok, murukku, papadom and agar-agar for our pupils.

Heartfelt thanks to our Montfort Junior Parents Connection parent volunteers for their help, time and effort in making our Racial Harmony Day recess activities enjoyable and memorable for our students. Most importantly, our Montfortians were able to carry out our school values of respect and team spirit through play, celebrating our differences in unity and friendship! 🎊👍

🤩 To provide authentic learning beyond the classroom, our Primary 6 students embarked on a learning journey to the Singapore Zoo. The trip enriched their understanding of the Science topic, Surviving in the Environment, by allowing them to observe firsthand how animals are adapted to their natural habitats.

During the visit, the students attended an engaging and interactive presentation titled "All About Adaptations", conducted by the zoo educators. Through the presentation and their exploration of the zoo, they learnt about the various structural, behavioural and physiological adaptations that enable animals to survive in different environments. The learning journey provided valuable opportunities for the students to connect classroom concepts with real-world observations, making their learning both meaningful and memorable. 🎊💫

It was definitely a night to remember as our Primary 5 Montfortians partook in the National Education (NE) Show held at the National Stadium last Saturday! We were especially thrilled to have Pte Zulhelfi, an ex-Montfortian who had enrolled in our school in 2011, as our school’s Army Liaison Personnel (ALP). Through the vibrant performances, spectacular displays and inspiring stories of resilience and unity, our boys gained a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s journey and the importance of contributing to our nation’s future. As we celebrate SG61 and Montfort Junior School’s 110th anniversary, the evening served as a timely reminder of our shared responsibility to go beyond ourselves in caring for the last, the lost and the least. We look forward to building a stronger Singapore together, with pride, purpose and heart.

After a week of anticipation, it was finally Primary 6 Respect’s and 6 Integrity’s turn to head to the Asian Civilisations Museum. As part of the Character & Citizenship Education (CCE) and Social Studies learning curriculum, students were accompanied by passionate museum educators and they had a whale of a time exploring the numerous galleries and artefacts. While journeying with a mythical Makara, students had the opportunity to travel to different time periods in Southeast Asia to explore what trade was like in the past and learned about ways of life in the region.

🤩🎊 On 10 July 2026, Montfort Junior School celebrated the appointment of our 2026 Student Leaders! We honoured our outgoing Primary 6 prefects for their dedication and warmly welcomed newly appointed prefects from Primary 3 to 5, along with our CCA Leaders. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from our outgoing and incoming Head Prefects, encouraging words from Principal Mr Tan, and the recitation of the Student Leaders' Pledge. Thank you to all parents and family members who joined us for this milestone. Congratulations to all our newly appointed student leaders — lead with integrity, compassion and purpose!

😊 A joyful and faith-filled day as our boys gathered for The Adventures of St Louis Marie de Montfort Retreat on 6 July, discovering what it means to be chosen and deeply loved by God.

Mr. Jeryl Yong from Montfort Centre reminded our boys that their identity is found in being children of God and that we are called to love others as God first loves us.

Facilitated by the Jesus Youth Singapore team, our Montfortians learnt about the lives of the saints through games and a fun quiz, sang and danced to action songs, crafted personalised name keychains, and received a rosary and other meaningful keepsakes.
Students also gathered at the Montfort Chapel for a prayerful time of Eucharistic Adoration led by Rev. Fr. Kevin Wee, followed by joyful praise and worship.
We pray that the seeds of faith planted during the retreat will continue to grow in the hearts of our young Montfortians. May they always know that they are God's beloved children and be inspired to share His love with those around them. 🥰
