Progress in the gym, and in life outside of it! I love it when clients experience for themselves the benefits of functional training.
This client of mine was so happy to report that she can now lift her steam oven on her own to clean the table surface underneath it, and we checked how much it weighs - 18kg đ
Nothing beats the feeling of being strong and physically independent even as we age.

This is Dennis. Today, he hit 2 PRs. One for back squats x5 reps at 195 pounds, and one for splitting his shorts while doing the squats! Thatâs one way to measure them glute GAINS đ¤Ł

Sharing a few nuggets about the science of happiness from a series Iâm listening to on the by Arthur Brooks.
More than just a feeling, we are happy when there is a balance of enjoyment, satisfaction and meaning in our lives.
Studies show that the different degrees of happiness are due to our genetics (our natural affect/mood), our circumstances, and our habits.
Whatâs most in our control are our habits, and by investing in the areas of faith/spirituality, family and friends, meaningful work in the service of others, and our health, weâre increasing our shot at happiness đ

Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate it! Yesterday, I had my first laddoo, and it was delicious. Also pictured is my dinner, tempura and soba. The reason for this post is to reflect on why I woke up super duper hungry in the middle of the night, and realised that my overall protein intake was really low. Hereâs what I had:
8am: rolled oats and a scoop of protein powder
1030am: half a laddoo
12nn: Mushroom and cheese toastie
1230pm: grapefruit iced tea
7pm: tempura and soba
830pm: half a brownie
I wasnât as mindful about my protein intake as I usually am, and it showed up as hunger that woke me up at 3am like the Kraken rising from the depths. A good guide is to have a palm of lean protein at every meal, 3-4 a day depending on your body and activity levels.

The benefits of exercise, weight-bearing exercise to be specific!
Got this text from a client of mine, 3 sessions into our work together. Sheâs already an avid walker (10,000 steps and more, multiple times a week), and since adding functional movements into her training, sheâs feeling and loving the positive impacts.
Love that I get to do this as a living! (Ignore the coconut water part..we were also talking about hydration in this conversation đ)

When you obsess about âforbiddenâ foods, you tend to crave them even more than before â and consequently eat even more of them.Â
(Thatâs frustrating.)â¨â¨To overcome the ban-more-eat-more-cycle, focus on ADDITION, rather than subtraction.
âAdd nutrient-rich veggies and lean protein foods
âIntentionally enjoy foods you love, in moderation
=Â fewer cravings and more satisfaction!

Rope climb foot positions for the J-hook. Felt like illustrating it! If your right foot went above first, it would go on the left of the rope.
