💭 Have you ever wondered how our educators engage children during Thought of the Day sessions each morning? 💛
At Methodist Preschools, Thought of the Day is a meaningful part of our approach to character education — where children are encouraged to reflect on important values and learn how these can be applied in everyday life ✨
As part of Thought of the Day at Ang Mo Kio Methodist Preschool, children explored the value of Inventiveness 💡
The children were first introduced to a variety of recycled materials and encouraged to think creatively about how these everyday items could be transformed into something new. Through thoughtful discussion and imagination, they explored possibilities for giving materials a second life 🌱
On another day, the children put their ideas into action by working together in groups to upcycle the materials into imaginative creations of their own — practising inventiveness through hands-on exploration, teamwork, and problem-solving 🌈
Through experiences like these, children learn that character values are not just spoken about, but lived out through meaningful opportunities to think, create, and grow ✨

🚀 Our K2 Space lessons have been upgraded!
To further enhance our Signature Space AstroBuds programme — the first and only space learning programme amongst Singapore preschools — Methodist Preschools has introduced exclusive enhanced lessons under our newly renamed K2 S³ Mission ✨
Standing for Stellar STEM-based Space learning, the K2 S³ Mission brings children on deeper space explorations through hands-on discovery, experimentation, and inquiry-based learning 🌍🌙
This is the first lesson feature in a brand-new series, where we’ll be following the exciting space adventures of our young explorers from Bedok Methodist Preschool as they journey through the K2 S³ Mission together 💫
In this lesson, the children investigated a fascinating question: How are moon craters formed? 🌕
Through a fun hands-on experiment, they dropped marbles of different sizes from varying heights onto a tray of flour dusted with cocoa powder, observing how different impacts created different-sized holes in the surface. This helped them visualise how craters are formed on the moon through meteor impacts ☄️
With curiosity leading the way, our children experienced science in action — asking questions, making observations, and learning through joyful discovery ✨ Stay tuned as we continue to follow the Bedok Methodist Preschool children on their stellar learning journey! 🚀

✂️💇♀️ Creativity, imagination, and lots of laughter filled the classroom during this fun Hairdresser Roleplay session with our K1 children from Faith Methodist Preschool! ✨
Using colourful paper strips, the children created playful “wigs” and took turns becoming hairstylists for their friends, while exploring different hairstyles and learning more about the role of a hairdresser through hands-on pretend play. 🌈
From asking about preferred hairstyles, to creating their designs and receiving “customer feedback”, the children had the opportunity to build communication, creativity, and social interaction skills in a joyful and engaging way! 💛
By the end of the lesson, every child walked away with their own unique hairstyle- and plenty of smiles and laughter too! 😊
For safety and comfort, the children’s own hair and ears were carefully protected under shower caps throughout the activity ✨

✨ And that’s a wrap on this year’s Children’s Designathon series! ✨
Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the joy of sharing the meaningful journey of our — from identifying real-world problems, to brainstorming ideas, prototyping, and finally presenting their creative solutions with confidence 💡🌍
In this final chapter, our children step into the role of young entrepreneurs as they proudly present their completed prototypes and explain their ideas in thoughtful detail. Some worked independently, while others collaborated in pairs or groups — but every presentation was a celebration of creativity, courage, and purposeful thinking.
Through the Children’s Designathon, children are reminded that their ideas matter, and that even little hands can make a big difference in the world around them ✨
Thank you for following along on this meaningful journey through one of Methodist Preschools’ signature programmes. We hope these moments have inspired you as much as they have inspired us 💛

For Fann Kang, her role as Executive Director of six Methodist Preschools is not just a calling to education, but to impacting generations with God's love.
“When I look at the preschool children, I don’t just see them and their families. I think about their future generations,” she said.
“If we do our part well and this child comes to know Jesus, the impact cannot be belittled. It is priceless.”
This post was written in partnership with the Christian Preschool Alliance.
“Christian preschools are sacred spaces”: Head of Methodist Preschools on the “priceless” impact of Christian early childhood education Some of Fann Kang’s earliest memories are of children singing at a church kindergarten across the road from her attap house. ...
