🌟Value Creating for our Community, Our Home🫶🏻🇸🇬

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday this August, it is a great time to look back and remind ourselves how we can build towards a “We First” society together. Indeed, over the last few months, our S2 and 3 NASians have been stepping up in ways to value create for the community.

Using Design Thinking as a guide, our NASians met up with our partner organisations, understood their needs and designed a series of activities to engage the beneficiaries. Our Sec 2s took turns to visit United Medicare and NTUC Health Active Ageing centre, where they carried out activities from simple crafts, to games, to spending time to bond with the elderly there. Our Sec 3s also initiated their own VIA projects, tailoring their activities to the needs of organisations like AWWA, St Andrew’s Autism School and PCF Sparkletots.

Our NASians learnt more about what it means to care for others, and they also took away rich learning on how to empathise, connect with and put others before self.

The best part? When we say value creators, we see our parents role modelling this for their children too. Our Parent Support Group also ran their outreach activity with residents at Kheng Chiu Happy Lodge, when they spent time, played games and shared lots of fun and laughter.

🤖 AI WORKSHOP FOR EVERY GENERATION! 🤖
Our Infocomm CCA is excited to collaborate with Tampines East Community Club for the 2nd year running to bring you a fun, hands-on AI Workshop! 🎉

We welcome senior citizens looking to pick up new digital skills and children (aged 10–12) ready to explore the tech world!

Participants can expect:
💡 Discover what AI is and how it’s used in daily life
🤝 Fun icebreakers to connect across generations
🎨 Learn how to create infographic using AI!
🛠️ No prior experience needed — Infocomm students will guide step by step!

🤖💡 AI is a powerful tool, but only when we use it wisely.

Our Secondary 1 NASians, Howard Tanoto, Jayden Choo and Shawn Lew from 1CO, took to the morning assembly stage to share thoughtful insights on the responsible use of generative AI in learning. 🎤

Beyond highlighting how AI can sometimes produce responses that sound convincing but are not always accurate, they also explored the environmental impact of excessive AI usage. 🌱 They also reminded us that responsible digital habits go beyond the screen. 📱

Their key takeaway for every NASian?

✨ Use AI to assist you, but not be you. ✨

This meaningful sharing is part of their journey in the National Library Board (NLB)’s Prove It! Contest 2026, a national news and information literacy competition. 📰 We wish the team all the very best as they continue to think critically, question boldly, and represent NAS with confidence! 💙👏

🤖🏆 Innovation, resilience and teamwork in action! 🏆🤖

Our Robotics CCA students have once again demonstrated that success is built not only on technical expertise, but also on perseverance, teamwork and the courage to overcome challenges.

Throughout the competition season, our teams pushed through demanding problem-solving tasks, unexpected setbacks and intense moments that required them to think critically, adapt quickly and stay composed under pressure. Every obstacle became an opportunity to learn, grow and improve together. 💡⚙️

Their hard work paid off with remarkable achievements. At RoboCup Singapore 2026, our teams clinched the Judges’ Award, 2nd place and 3rd place in the Autonomous Driving Car category, as well as 1st place in the CoSpace Rescue category. They also excelled at RoboRoarz, organised by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), earning 2nd place in the Physical Category and 4th place in the Virtual Category.

Beyond the trophies, our students continue to develop the skills that matter most for the future: collaboration, communication, resilience and critical thinking. Whether troubleshooting code, refining robot designs or supporting one another through challenges, they have shown what it means to persevere and grow as a team.

📢 A Warm Welcome to Our Friends from Chongqing! 🌏🇨🇳

On 27 and 28 July, we were delighted to host the students, staff and Principal of our Chongqing partner school, and show them what life as a NASian is all about!🩵💛

Our guests immersed themselves in Singapore’s school life by joining our lessons and observing how our students learn and grow. They also took part in various activities with their local buddies, including playing our traditional games, designing Peranakan tiles and joining in music-making workshops to learn about Xin Yao (locally composed Singapore folk-pop songs).

✨ Both schools found the mutual exchange of cultures, school innovations and teaching practices deeply meaningful and enriching. More importantly, this visit forged and strengthened bonds between our youths across 2 nations, and affirmed our longstanding friendship of many years.

🌍💙 We look forward to our visit to Chongqing at the end of this year, where we are sure the rich learning, friendships and broadening of minds will continue! Till we meet again!

🎬 This year’s theme, “The Worlds We Make”, challenged our students to unleash their digital storytelling skills. They created cinematic videos that highlighted the need to respect intellectual property and copyright - elements increasingly important in today's digital world. 💻✨

🌟 On 22 July, our campus came alive in a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours as our students proudly donned their ethnic attire to commemorate Racial Harmony Day! ✨

This year’s theme, ‘Our People, Our Tapestry’, reminds us that our diverse cultures are like threads woven into one strong and vibrant tapestry. 🪡 While misunderstandings may sometimes strain these bonds, it is our shared responsibility to strengthen them through mutual respect, understanding and kindness. 🤝

During the RHD LIFE lesson, students reflected on an important truth: racial harmony doesn’t happen by chance. It takes active effort to build trust, protect our common spaces, and stand up against modern challenges, such as online racism. 🚫

The learning continued beyond the classroom as students put their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills to the test in an exciting level-wide Bingo Challenge! A huge shout-out to our amazing PSG for manning the cultural booths and making the celebration so engaging and memorable! 🎯✨

🌟 From Ideas to Impact! 🏆🎉

Since March, 19 of our Sec 3 NASians have been challenging themselves to tackle real-world sustainability issues with creativity, collaboration and heart. After months of researching, prototyping and refining their ideas, four teams proudly represented NAS at the Young Trailblazers Competition 2026.

Two of our teams progressed to the finals to pitch their business-driven solutions, while another two showcased their innovative prototypes at the gallery booths, engaging visitors and peers in conversations about creating a more sustainable future. 🚀✨

A huge Congratulations to Team Mouth Breathers (Akshar, Debdan, Jairus, Noah & Rudvik), who clinched the 🏆 Best Innovation Award with their ingenious solution to keep us safe when heating cooking oil. Kudos too, to Project Yellow Bananas (Deon, Eilish, Guhitha, Kamelia & Xin Yang) for receiving the 🍌 Oaktree Award (Most Popular Prototype) for their creativity in reducing food waste.

Our loud cheers also go out to Project Green Apples (Arianne, Jason, Om, Zhi Le) for their e-waste app solution, and SustaiNASSians (Edbert, Ethan, Felice, Oliver, William) for tackling household water contamination. Well done, NASians! 🎖️

🎻✨ Music came alive at the Singapore Conference Hall! ✨🎶

Our Sec 1 NASians experienced the magic of a live concert performance with the incredible Singapore Chinese Orchestra, as part of the Performing Arts-based Learning Programme.

As music filled the hall, our students discovered the unique voices of different orchestral instruments, learnt about local composers, and even voted for their favourite pieces to be performed. Familiar tunes like Chan Mali Chan, popular hits like Test Drive (from How to Train Your Dragon) came alive through vibrant orchestral arrangements, allowing our students to experience these beloved melodies in a fresh and inspiring way. ✨🎶

More than just a concert, it was a chance to spark curiosity, broaden perspectives and deepen our NASians' appreciation for the arts beyond the classroom. Here's to more unforgettable experiences that inspire our NASians to see the world through new lenses! 🎼🌟
