Do you know that your child’s lack of Chinese vocabulary and performance in comprehension and composition during exams will determine their results?
Reaching out to all students who will be taking their PSLE in the next two years! In just a few days, this holiday booster class will enable students to score better results using the 3R Method, and also enable them to master comprehension and composition skills, leading them onto the path to success.
At Le ue, we recognize the significance of the PSLE and the efforts needed for students to excel. Many parents have also given feedback that their child’s lack of Chinese vocabulary has caused them unable to write compositions or understand comprehension passages, resulting in poor results. Thus, we have created this holiday booster class that enables students to catch up on their P3-P6 vocabulary before their PSLE and grasp the 3R Method in just four days. Since comprehension and oral also take up about 40% of the students' papers, doing well in it wuold ensure good results. However, students tend to do poorly in this. Thus. the 3R Composition, Comprehension class aims to teach your child important comprehension and composition skills through our 3R Method, allowing them to achieve better results in their PSLE.
The 3R Method is developed by our Principal Ms Vivien Le, and it enables students to understand and grasp the concepts of vocabulary in just a short few lessons. This method makes use of the 3 “R”s, namely “Recognizing”, “Remembering” and “Reading”. Firstly, students will be taught to recognize Chinese characters which can be classified under three categories – pictographic words, phonographic words and associative words. Close 80% of primary school Chinese characters can be classified under these three categories, and this will allow students to be able to grasp these words quickly and understand it thoroughly. Next, after students understand these words, we will link the words they have read to words in their textbooks or storybooks, enabling them to remember them in the process. Lastly, when students have fully grasped and remembered the Chinese characters, they will be able to apply this knowledge in their comprehension and compositions to understand comprehension passages or write idioms, sayings and good phrases in their compositions.
Students who attend the 3R Comprehension and Composition class will learn how to tackle their comprehension and compositions. Since we believe that comprehension is closely related to compositions, we will be teaching these two sections in conjunction using the 3R Method to ensure maximum retention.
