The 2nd ACF Coffee Appreciation Protocol (ACAP) Training session in Kuala Lumpur at DC Academy, from 15-17 September 2025 has come to a close.
Massive thank you to for the support and for hosting our training.
Three fruitful and exciting days of learning and discovery - from diving into coffee science, analysing how roasting shapes flavour, and unravelling the science of flavour perception, to grading green coffee, exploring the innovative two-temperature cupping of the ACAP protocol, cubicle cupping with Cpin and sharpening skills through triangulation activities.

The inaugural 3-day ACF Coffee Appreciation Protocol (ACAP) training, held from 16–18 July 2025, successfully concluded with a full program covering theory from farm to cup, hands-on cupping sessions, and use of the Cpin cupping app throughout.
Led by Dave Lim, Technical Director of the ASEAN Coffee Institute, and joined by dedicated trainers from across ASEAN.

Our Technical Director, Mr. Dave Lim, hosted an ASEAN cupping session during Malaysia Coffee Week 2023.
The session aimed to introduce ASEAN coffee to the general public. It marked the inaugural use of the ACF Coffee Perceptive and Descriptive Assessment in a public setting.
The response was overwhelming, as many attendees were pleasantly surprised by the delightful flavors of ASEAN coffee. This contrasted with their preconceived notions of typical spice, smoky, to***co, or earthy notes often associated with ASEAN coffee.
This positive reception encourages us, and we hope to see ASEAN coffee being featured more prominently in the future.
