Low key missing this classroom + I love everything about this classroom because yay to !

Also terribly missing this group of kiddos because it's been such a humbling and delightful experience working hand in hand with them as co-partners in our shared learning space. Definitely one of the best bunch. 😭

Dumping here for the memories.

Can't exactly remembered where I got this idea from but this remains to be one of my top favourite literacy activity to date.

Also, haven't got the chance to update here since forever because busy busy busy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why has this been stored in my phone's gallery for a long time? 🥴

〰️

Anyway, here's a posting letters activity inspired by !

Instead of posting letters, I told my kiddos that this is an apartment with several residents living in it and that the small little container represents a school. School has just ended and it's time for the kiddos to go home. Help the little cardboard kiddos reach home safely to their correct unit number!

The box can be opened from the top and my kiddos can just pour the cardboard kiddos out themselves and do it all over again. Great activity that don't really require much facilitation from me once they got the hang of it.

I tried it out with a 3.5-year-old and also 6-year-olds and this works well for both age groups with a tweak of instruction and difficulty level.

〰️

I received this cute looking box as a PR in one of my other pursuits on Social Media. This originally housed a small bottle of ampoule. Box is so cute I just had to think of something to do with it! 😍

Tinfoil sculptures ftw!

They're so easy to prep yet allows endless possibilities of activities to take place.

For this particular activity, the children created sculptures of their bodies in action after listening to the story "From Head to Toe" by Eric Carle. A couple of my kiddos requested for extra pieces of tin foils because they wanted to add details to their artwork. One created a microphone for his sculpture to hold on to; he describes his sculpture "I want to make a small microphone because I am using my mouth to sing and I my hand I can use to hold the microphone". Another kiddo made tiny plates of food around his sculpture and said, "This is for my food. I want to out the food beside me. You see, my leg can sit down on the floor and I am eating the Nasi Lemak beside me". 😂

Oh boy, it's always interesting to observe how their inquisitive and creative minds work, and see the kind of creative work the children came out with with their tin foils. 😍

Shark Attack! 🌊

Absolutely loved the tooth pulling activity done by , so I decided to make one for my kiddos. Got them to match the lower case letters to their respective upper case letters.

My board is actually double sided. Depending on the age group and children's level that I'm conducting the session with, the kiddos can pull out the tooth to either match the letters to their respective upper case letters or simply just do a one-to-one match to the same lower case letters. 😊

______

Food for thought 💭

The teeth were the hardest part tbh. Mine turned out to be quite tiny because I was trying to fit all of the letters of the Alphabet into the shark's mouth! Perhaps I could have gotten with a bigger cardboard piece. Also, is so talented, she makes it look so easy and effortless to create this snarky-looking shark!

Trap the sounds! 🕳️

Quick! Those cheeky pictures are running away. Take the cups with the correct beginning sounds and catch those runaway caaarrrdddds! 💨

〰️

Took this months ago but just didn't had the time to post this up in a timely manner. Well, I guess that's just the way life is huh?

Got this idea from but of course I diy-cardboard it for my challenge. ✌🏼

Feeding the hungry /m/ monster! 👾

/m/ monster is a really picky eater. It only likes to eat objects that has the beginning sound /m/. Anything else goes to its cousin's tummy!

Got this wonderful idea from off 📍 but of course I tweaked it to suit my challenge.

Heya! It'd been a good break for me but it's time to share some of the things that I'd done lately.

One of the things that I've been enjoying recently is bringing this Pirate game to life! I'd bought it some years back to be played with my friends or family members during staycations or sleepovers. But tbh, this pirate game is barely used even during such occasions. What a waste seriously. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, in a bid to use whatever I already have in my stash (that is not just cardboard), I decided to repurpose this game and include it as part of my collection of teaching materials! Right now, I'm currently using this to teach letter sounds /s/ and /a/. It's really not hard; just use post its or sticker labels and label them with whatever you want to teach. Letter sounds. Letter names. Tricky words. Number sense. Anything! Fuss-free and easy!

Just wanna put it across here that in all honestly, we really don't have to go out of our way to purchase specific learning materials for specific purposes because most of the time, we already have a lot of resources on hand that's just begging to be utilised in a hundred different ways! Lesser wastage! Yay!

Uhm, I don't think I even need to say from which book these are based on. 🐛

A great way to work on those fine motor skills and an even greater way to get my kiddos to retell the story.

to last weekend's gross motor activities!

I had to conduct a developmental screening as part of my assignment deliverable and one part of the developmental screening process is observing a child's gross motor skills.

Knowing that I did not want the whole process to be very "clinical", I decided to plan and come out with a themed obstacle course; getting the child to be superheroes saving the city from monsters everywhere! I did not realized it at that point of time but it ties in nicely for Halloween! Woo~ 👻

Here were some of the skills that I was observing throughout the whole obstacle course:

1⃣ Go up the stairs without support. Pick a cuff of their choice and choose the superhero they prefer.
2⃣ Jump forward from crossing to crossing with both feet up in the air.
3⃣ Stomp on the first monster by jumping on it.
4⃣ Stop at the line, stand on one foot unsupported for a few seconds, and pick up some paper balls made out of newspaper.
5⃣ Stand at a distance and throw paper balls, using overarm throw, at the monsters on the wall.
6⃣ Walk over to the next station and kick a ball forward to defeat the last monster!

Woohoo! Monsters all defeated! I specifically planned this activity for a 3-year-old but his 2-year-old brother tagged along and had a ball of a time engaging in this activity! 😊

Mission accomplished!

I am thankful for my friend for allowing me and giving me the opportunity to observe her child for this assignment of mine. Also engaged the help of another friend for the set up too. Absolutely thankful to them for just helping me out in general and spending the time with me! 💕

Special thanks to my friends for taking these photos for me. I had forgotten to take any photos of the set up because I was too engrossed and focused on my assignment deliverables. 😅
