Strong vocabulary is what separates average compositions from high-scoring ones.

Help your child build richer vocabulary and stronger writing with guided weekly practice.

Your child might see the red circles but do they understand why they are wrong?

✔ Is it a tense error?
✔ A subject-verb agreement issue?
✔ A spelling mistake?

When children can identify the type of mistake, they’re far less likely to repeat it.

Our teachers give detailed feedback explaining what the errors are and how to make their sentences stronger. This builds grammar confidence and writing accuracy through consistent, guided practice.

When the WA results come back, you may be wondering how best to support your child, especially through corrections and reflection.

At Compo Owl, we work alongside parents to guide your child through this process gently and consistently.

By breaking writing down the writing process into familiar habits they can build over time - organising ideas, shaping sentences, understanding feedback, etc - your child will learn how to improve without feeling overwhelmed.

Because confidence grows best when children feel supported, both at home and at school.

For the WAs, your child’s teachers aren’t looking for “chim words” everywhere 👀

They’re looking for:
✔ Clear ideas
✔ Relevant details
✔ Sentences that make sense

One well-written sentence is better than five messy ones.

Our creative writing feedback focuses on quality over quantity in writing, helping your child express their ideas clearly, one sentence at a time.

Many parents worry about how their child will cope when assessments come around. After the festivities, it’s normal for children to take a moment to settle back into assessment mode.

The children who cope best aren’t the ones who memorise more, but the ones who are comfortable thinking on paper.

Strong writing isn’t about switching on exam focus overnight. It’s built from habits children already recognise - planning ideas, shaping sentences, and knowing what they want to say.

When the process feels familiar, assessments feel less intimidating.

💛 Reassurance comes from knowing your child has skills they can rely on. Download and submit a composition practice in preparation for the WAs.

Here’s a simple creative writing prompt to try after the celebrations:
“My Chinese New Year in 3 parts.”
1️⃣ Before the celebration

These festive days ahead are full of writing inspiration 🧧

After each CNY get-together, try this with your child: Instead of “Did you enjoy yourself?”, ask them

👉 “What was the most interesting thing you noticed today?”
The loudest sound.
The sweetest snack.
The funniest moment.

Great writing begins with noticing details and festive moments make that easy.

✨ Everyday experiences, thoughtfully observed.

What if you could hear your dog’s thoughts? 🐶💭
Try this simple game with your child tonight.

👉 “Describe a moment from your dog’s point of view.”
What does the dog notice?
What does it feel?
What matters most to it right now?

This playful exercise builds perspective and voice - two skills that help children write more vivid, meaningful compositions.

Best part?

No worksheets. No pressure. Just imagination at work.

Sometimes, the hardest part of writing isn’t vocabulary or grammar, it’s knowing where to start.

Here’s a short creative writing prompt to try:
“The Day I Did the Right Thing.”

It’s a story many children already know. All they need is a moment to talk it through… then write the first line.

📝 Try this together wit your child:
• Ask your child what “the right thing” means to them
• Let them say it out loud first
• Then write just the opening sentence

You can share that first line in the comments or, if your child is ready, ask them to write this composition and upload it in the Compo Owl app for teacher feedback.

Small stories. Real meaning. One step at a time.

Good feedback doesn’t say “wrong”.

It says “here’s how to make this better”.

At Compo Owl, feedback is written for the child, not just the grade.

Clear. Specific. Encouraging.

That’s how confidence builds quietly.

👉 Submit one composition to experience the difference.

Both answers respond to the same PSLE-style topic.

One will score low. The other shows clarity, detail and reflection and will score better.

The difference isn’t talent or vocabulary.

It’s knowing how to develop an idea in an exam-ready way.

Good feedback doesn’t rewrite your child’s work.
It shows them how to say it better.

🦉 Upload one composition via the Compo Owl app and our teachers will guide your child is writing in an exam-ready way, step by step.
