π A big welcome to our new postgraduate research students for August 2026!
More than 290 new postgraduate research students joined us for PGR Orientation, jointly organised by the Graduate College, Student Affairs Office and the Nanyang Technological University Graduate Students' Association, marking the beginning of their NTU research journey.
From briefings by the Graduate College, Research Integrity Office, NTU Library, Career & Attachments Office, Office of Health and Safety, Urban Redevelopment Authority and more, to interactive booths and conversations with NTU offices and the Graduate Studentsβ Association, our students had the opportunity to learn, connect and prepare for life as postgraduate researchers.
The day ended with a lunch reception β a chance to continue the conversations and make new connections. π€π½οΈ
We look forward to seeing the ideas, discoveries, and impact you will create at NTU. π

How do cells communicate and respond to changes in their environment? π¬
Santhisenan Ajith, a Year 2 PhD student from the IGP Collaborative Initiative, is exploring this question by developing deep learning models that integrate multimodal single-cell genomics data to study cell communication, state transitions, and responses to perturbations.
Guided by Professor Jagath Rajapakse (College of Computing and Data Science) and Assistant Professor Bernett Lee (Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine), Santisenan's research journey has also been shaped by the diverse perspectives and cultural exchanges within the Graduate College community.
