Connecting Cultures, Enriching Learning 🌏✨

Methodist Girls’ School was delighted to welcome 41 students and four staff members from Ferris Girls’ High School, Yokohama, Japan, on 5 August 2026, as part of their second educational visit to Singapore. 🏫💙💛

Throughout the day, students from both schools connected through shared learning experiences, cultural exchanges and meaningful conversations. 💬🌸

For our MGS students, the exchange brought learning beyond the classroom 🌏, deepening their appreciation of Japanese culture 🇯🇵 while strengthening their global awareness and cross-cultural understanding. 🤝🏼

🌏 Fostering Global Connections through Educational Exchange

It was a joy to welcome 37 students and four teachers from Qilin Middle School, China, on 3 August for a meaningful day of educational and cultural exchange. 🤝

The visit provided a valuable platform for students from both schools to learn from one another’s experiences. Through these interactions, our students deepened their global awareness, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation of diverse perspectives. 🌐✨

The exchange also provided an opportunity for both schools to explore future areas of collaboration, including STEM education 🔬💡 and regional learning experiences in China’s Greater Bay Area.

We are grateful for the opportunity to forge new connections and look forward to strengthening this partnership through future learning and exchange opportunities. 💙💛

🎉 To God be the Glory as Methodist Girls’ School celebrates 139 years of faithfully nurturing generations of Godly women of Excellence with a heart of Love. 💖🙏

⛪ The Founder’s Day Service & Graduation Ceremony on 24 July brought the MGS community together in happy thanksgiving and celebration. ✨ The occasion was graced by Bishop Philip Lim, together with Guest-of-Honour Mrs Valarie Wilson, Principal ACJC and immediate past Principal of MGS, Board members, MGS alumnae, distinguished guests, parents, and friends of the school. 💙💛

👩🏻‍🎓 It was a special occasion to welcome back the Class of 2025 to receive their graduation certificates, while recognising students for their distinctive achievements, leadership and service. 🌟🏆

🎂 The celebrations had in fact begun a day earlier, as the Primary 1–3 girls marked the school’s birthday with cake and heartfelt well-wishes. 🎈🎉 As the MGS story continues to be written through every generation of girls, may God continue to bless Methodist Girls’ School for years to come, and may the school always remain firmly and joyfully rooted in His love. 🌿💙💛

On 28 May, we celebrated a meaningful milestone at the Primary Student Leaders’ Investiture as our Prefects and House Leaders officially stepped into their leadership roles.👏🏼

Grounded in servant leadership, our student leaders are reminded that leadership is not about position or popularity, but about serving others with humility, responsibility and love. Through their journey, they strive to model the MGS values of Godliness, Excellence and Love. 🙏🏼🌟❤️

A highlight of the ceremony was the involvement of parents and guardians, who presented letters of encouragement 💌 and pinned the leadership badges on their daughters. 🥰 These heartfelt moments reflected the strong partnership 🤝 between home and school in nurturing confident, compassionate and service-oriented leaders.

As they begin this new chapter, we pray that our student leaders will continue to grow in character, courage and compassion, and shine brightly as leaders who serve others first. 💕

Arts Festival 2026 🎨🎶💛

This year’s Arts Festival invited our primary students to discover how the arts can support mental well-being. 🌈

Over two days during recess on 8 and 9 July, students enjoyed a variety of activities—from creating personalised squishy stress balls 🟡 and contributing to a collaborative painting 🎨, to writing affirmations for themselves and others 💌, and listening to calming melodies composed during Music lessons 🎵. Together, these experiences encouraged our girls to pause, create, connect and care for one another. 💙

The festival was made even more meaningful by our Art Club students, who served wholeheartedly by facilitating the activities and encouraging their peers to join in. 👏✨

We hope the festival reminds us that creativity is not only a way to express ourselves, but also a way to care for ourselves, encourage others and strengthen our community. 🌟

Learning comes alive through meaningful experiences ❤️🧸📖
As part of their Primary 2 Chinese Language unit on “Occupations” (职业), students from classes 2.3, 2.4 and 2.7 had the special opportunity to visit our Principal’s office on 11 and 12 May.
Through an engaging and interactive storytelling session by Ms Yoong featuring 《美以美文史馆奇遇记》 — a Chinese picture book co-authored by our 2020 Creative Writing class — the girls gained a deeper appreciation of the diverse occupations within a school community, while also getting to know our newly appointed Principal better.
From discovering her favourite colour and animals to hearing about her experiences and reflections as a Principal, the students were filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. They especially enjoyed spotting the many adorable teddy bears and meaningful keepsakes around her office, and learning the stories behind them.
Most of all, this meaningful interaction reminded our students that every occupation comes with stories, experiences and opportunities to serve others.

Hey MG! 💛💙 On 15 May, we held our IP Symposium with the theme Master. Grow. Serve: From Learning to Impact. 📚🥰Through various learning journeys, workshops and even sharings by our own girls, our IP students explored different ways in which they could hone their skills, grow in character and impact the community. Special shout out to our Keynote Speaker Mrs Elaine Teo, the founder of Oatbedient, who shared her journey and insights into entrepreneurship to an enthusiastic audience.👩🏻‍💼🤗

🧪“The Year 4 IS Showcase provided valuable insights of the diverse topics and research explored by the upper sec students. An example was the fermenting kimchi project which studied the pH of fermented kimchi. I never realised IS could investigate such everyday items too!” - Ivette Kong (2O)

On 13 May, our Student Leaders’ Investiture marked an important milestone for both the outgoing and incoming batches of student leaders, bringing both a sense of closure and a sense of new beginnings. It was a meaningful occasion that reflected the dedication and growth shown throughout their term of service, at the same time placing responsibility upon the next group of leaders.🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
