When I experienced burnout in the past, I genuinely believed it was a sign of weakness.

Society celebrates the ones who stay up late burning the midnight oil.
The ones who rush through meals just to get back to work.

So when I hit a wall, I thought: why canโ€™t I keep up? ๐Ÿ˜ข

Then I came across research that changed how I saw everything.

There is a direct correlation between lack of recovery time and increased health issues.

Because resilience isnโ€™t about how much you can endure.

You can push through hard things - most of us can. But if youโ€™re not building in genuine recovery between those hard things, youโ€™re not building resilience. Youโ€™re just depleting yourself more slowly.

Since then, Iโ€™ve tried to be much more intentional about pausing.

Not just collapsing at the end of the day, but actually recovering - moving my body, stepping outside, protecting time that genuinely restores me.

It changes alot!

This weekend, I had the joy of speaking on โ€œFrom Burnout to Balance: The Power of Self-Kindnessโ€ as part of an event celebrating World Mental Health Day ๐Ÿ’š

I shared my own journey through burnout , and how learning to practice self-kindness through mental fitness helped me find balance again.

Together, we practiced gratitude and journaling , slowing down to reflect on the small everyday moments that keep us grounded and grateful. ๐ŸŒท

After the talk, we had a beautiful art therapy session led by . We did a self care plan and created a heart filled with our own inspiration , which was a great way to end a meaningful day!

I get asked this question frequently, and I totally understand how it can feel like a catch-22. ๐Ÿฅด

Job postings often require at least 2-3 years of experience, which may seem frustrating when youโ€™re looking to break into a new field.

But of course it makes sense: employers want someone who can step into the role and deliver. ๐Ÿ’ช

So, what can you do to improve your chances?

Take the initiative! I once met someone who wanted to pivot into digital marketing.
What he did was he created an Instagram profile for his cat, which gained over 20K followers! ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› That sure impressed me!

Connect with people in the industry, attend events, and seek informational interviews. Building relationships and learning from others is often the best way to find opportunities.

When we think of PTSD, we often associate it with extreme trauma.

But did you know that work-related PTSD is a real and serious issue?

High-pressure environments, toxic workplaces, impossible deadlines, and chronic stress can leave lasting scars.

Even after leaving a stressful job, you might still experience:

๐Ÿ”น Anxiety over deadlines, even in a healthier workplace
๐Ÿ”น Feeling your heart race when an email or Slack / Teams message pops up
๐Ÿ”น Trouble sleeping, exhaustion, or even physical pain
๐Ÿ”น A constant sense of dread, like youโ€™re waiting for the next crisis

This isnโ€™t just โ€œwork stress.โ€

Your body and mind remember what it was like to be in survival mode. And if youโ€™ve been operating like that for too long, it can take a toll.

Happy New Year, everyone! ๐ŸŽ‰

In the past, Iโ€™ve shared that I donโ€™t make New Yearโ€™s resolutions.

This year is no different - and after reflecting on last year, Iโ€™ve decided that this year, I will focus on carving out more time for myself.

Last year was all about hard work, pursuing 2 new certifications, and business growth, and while Iโ€™m proud of what I accomplished, I realised I neglected my own wants and joy.

I found myself hesitating when it came to treating myself, constantly asking if I ๐’”๐’‰๐’๐’–๐’๐’… spend money on something I liked or if I even ๐’…๐’†๐’”๐’†๐’“๐’—๐’†๐’… it.

I realised that constantly questioning whether I deserved to treat myself came from a habit of putting my needs last. This year, Iโ€™m shifting my mindset to see self-care as a way of honoring my worth, not something I need to earn. ๐Ÿชด

Of course, I have a few things I want to work on for my business this year - there are always more things to do! ๐Ÿ˜…

But my main goal is to prioritise doing more things that genuinely bring me joy, whether itโ€™s pampering myself or simply embracing moments of self-care.

Hereโ€™s to a year of balance, self-love, and fulfillment! ๐ŸŒŸ

Whatโ€™s your focus for the year ahead?

On Christmas Eve, I went to meet a friend whom I had not caught up with for a long time for a meal.

I was the first to arrive, and the shop assistant led me to the table they had reserved for me, and I just sat down. My friend arrived shortly after, and after we had finished our meal, she asked if I had purposely chosen this seat under this sign. ๐Ÿ˜…

I didnโ€™t know what she meant - until she pointed out that I was sitting directly beneath this sign with the words โ€œBalanceโ€ on it! ๐ŸŒŸ

Balance is part of my personal brand and something that Iโ€™m constantly striving for. ๐Ÿค—

But this full message - ๐๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž - ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž - struck a chord with me.

So often, we chase balance by ๐’•๐’“๐’š๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’•๐’ ๐’„๐’๐’๐’•๐’“๐’๐’ every aspect of our lives - our careers, relationships, and even our emotions. But true stability comes not from control but from acceptance.

Acceptance of where we are right now.
Acceptance of the uncertainties ahead.
Acceptance of ourselves as we navigate the changes in life.

Balance isnโ€™t about having everything perfectly aligned...

Itโ€™s about finding steadiness in the midst of lifeโ€™s movement.

That poster was a timely reminder for me, and perhaps for you, too, to pause, embrace and accept where we are today.

๐ŸŒฟ Itโ€™s not every day that youโ€™re happy when the attendees of your talk want to sleep! ๐Ÿ’ค ๐Ÿ˜„

But thatโ€™s exactly what happened last Saturday during our Mental Wellness Holistic Care event - after I guided them through some relaxing exercises combined with some soothing music ๐ŸŽถ to help shift from stress to calm. Afterward, many shared that they felt sleepy โ€” such a good sign that we were on the right track towards relaxation!

During the session, we also explored how to manage stress and find balance in our busy lives. I introduced techniques they could easily incorporate into their everyday routines.

After that, shared with them time management techniques as well as the power of howย scents interact with emotions and memories to promote relaxation and focus. ๐ŸŒผ

Finally, our pilates expert led everyone through a full-body workout to wrap up the day, leaving everyone well stretched, energised and refreshed. โ˜˜๏ธ

It was a wholesome event for mental wellness, and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! ๐ŸŒธ Big thank you to and and our emcee for giving us the opportunity to share our expertise to others! ๐ŸŽ‰

Today is World Mental Health Day, and Iโ€™m so grateful to have had the opportunity to speak at an amazing organisation earlier today about Balance and Mental Fitness. ๐Ÿ’š

Itโ€™s inspiring to see more companies taking mental health seriously and creating spaces to support their teams. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š

Iโ€™m also excited for a few other upcoming Mental Health events this month, including an onsite Wellness event this weekend with and where participants will learn about Mental Fitness, and experience Aromatherapy and a Pilates Session (which is already fully booked!). ๐ŸŽ‰

Itโ€™s great to see how many people are eager to prioritise their mental and physical well-being. ๐ŸŒธ

I can be selfish, mean, inconsiderate, rude, impatient, unreasonable, proud, wrong, and weak.... ๐Ÿ˜“

..at times.

Because I am only human.

But at other times... I can be selfless, kind, considerate, polite, patient, reasonable, humble, right, and strong. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have all been all of these things.

Iโ€™m sharing this because I have judged others before for their reactions or behaviour. But when I take the time to understand their perspective and whatโ€™s truly going on for them beneath it all, I find greater empathy and compassion. ๐Ÿ’—

I realise that we all have days when we may be hurtful, unreasonable, or insensitive. Sometimes itโ€™s due to a bad day, our upbringing, past trauma, fears, how we were treated, or bad experiences weโ€™ve been through.

We are only human.

So letโ€™s try to be kind to others. Learn to forgive, learn to be nice.

Perhaps we can try to understand others more and the reasons behind their behaviour.

It will not be easy.

We all have our struggles, and we all have our moments of strength and weakness.

By embracing our humanity and striving for empathy, we can create a kinder world. โฃ
