The Sugar and Spice Festival aims to change the belief that people raised in traditional societies are unable to express themselves when it comes to s*x - what are their preferences and attitudes.

“Ma********on causes erectile dysfunction.”
It’s not that simple.

As a Clinical S*xologist, I’ve worked with clients who experience delayed ej*******on, er****on difficulties during partnered s*x, or feeling “less sensitive” s*xually.

Sometimes it’s not ma********on itself — it’s patterns our body and brain become used to.

Examples:
• Very tight grip
• Very fast stimulation
• Same position every time
• Reliance on very specific fantasy or p**n patterns

Over time, some people may find partnered intimacy doesn’t create the same level of stimulation their body has learned to expect.

S*xual difficulties are often more nuanced than people realise.

If you’re struggling with er****on concerns, delayed ej*******on, desire differences, or intimacy challenges, support is available.

Japan underground idol sparks outrage for offering armpit sniffing service for fans 09/05/2026

People are reacting to the “armpit sniffing” underground idol story as though the main issue is simply that it is weird or disgusting. Honestly, I think that misses the bigger picture entirely.

This wasn’t really about armpits.

It was about closeness, attention, emotional validation, pseudo-intimacy, and increasingly blurred boundaries in fan culture.

The article itself hints at the deeper ecosystem:
Low-paid underground idols
Intense competition
Emotional labour
Fan dependency
Pressure to constantly stand out
Mental health strain
Parasocial attachment

In other words: loneliness + economic pressure + viral culture + monetised intimacy.

When attention becomes currency, intimacy often becomes the product.

As a relationship counsellor and clinical s*xologist, I think the consent conversation here matters — but not in the simplistic “she agreed, so therefore everything is fine” kind of way.

Consent is not just about saying yes.

We also need to ask:
Was it informed?
Was there emotional dependency involved?
Was there economic pressure?
Was there a power imbalance?
Did both parties fully understand the psychological dynamics at play?
Was this genuine choice, performance, survival strategy, or some combination of all three?

Something can technically be consensual and still deserve critical discussion.

Something can be funny, playful, viral, or done “with permission” and still reflect a culture where emotional connection, touch, attention, and validation are increasingly being commercialised.

To me, that’s the real story here.

More and more people are not just paying for s*xual content. They are paying to feel noticed, wanted, chosen, comforted, emotionally held, or less alone.

That should make us pause and think more deeply about where modern relationships, loneliness, and online culture are heading.

TED 29/04/2026

I see this a lot in my work—people who are doing everything “right” when it comes to self-improvement, but still feel disconnected from themselves, their partners, and their lives.

It often starts innocently. You want to be healthier, a better partner, more aware. Then it slowly becomes constant checking:
Am I doing this right?
Am I doing enough?

And that’s where spectatoring comes in. You’re no longer in the experience—you’re watching yourself from the outside.

I see this especially in intimacy. You can say the right things, do all the techniques, even have s*x regularly… and still feel flat. Not because something is wrong, but because you’re not actually in it.

At some point, all that “doing it right” pulls you out of the moment.
The shift isn’t about doing more. It’s about letting yourself be in the experience again—messy, imperfect, real.
That’s where connection comes back.

Along the way:
• Pioneer in s*xuality education in Asia
• Only AASECT-certified s*xuality educator in the region (since 2011)
• AASECT-certified supervisor
• Awarded Most Supportive Relationship Coach 2025
• Featured internationally (HuffPost, Newsweek, South China Morning Post)
• Trained s*xuality professionals across the region
• Thousands of client sessions over nearly two decades
No trends. No shortcuts.
