How can you help children understand you better?

➊ Be clear in your words

What is time? Have you ever heard of time management? What is it about? How should we do it?

Time management is a process where you organise and plan how to split your time between different activities. By doing so, you can get more things done in less time. This works especially well when you have a tight deadline to meet.

Today we are going to teach the children on how to start a good time management:

What are a few good tips on this?
Set a time for everything including rest time.
Use waiting time productively by reading a book, or plan some worksheet that fit within the time.
Block out distraction by muting the phone or close the door
Keep track of tasks by writing down what you need to do
Focus on results. Think about what will happen if you do these tasks.

By teaching your child to plan their time, they are in charge of their tasks and will also learn to be responsible about their learning. It will prevent procrastination and help them achieve their goals faster.

Why not start to get your child to start learning to plan their time? After all, they have to learn this at a certain point and why not start young?

Is your child very focused on winning? Competitive? Gets upset when he/she does not manage to win something? If your answer is yes then this article may be for you :)
So what is good sportsmanship? Good sportsmanship is when people who are playing or watching a sport treat each other with respect. This includes players, parents, coaches, and officials.

Kids learn how to be a good sport from the adults in their lives, especially their parents and their coaches. As soon as your child starts competing in sports, it's important to be a good role model. And any teams your child plays on should have coaches that encourage good sportsmanship.

Show your good sportsmanship:
➊ Keep sideline comments positive and encouraging.
➋ Don't bad-mouth coaches, players, or officials. If you have a serious concern, talk privately with the coach or official.
➌ After a competition, don't focus on who won or lost. Instead, try asking, "What did you do well during the game?" "Was there something you wish you could have done better?" If your child feels there was something that could have gone better, offer to work on it together before the next game.
➍ Applaud good plays, no matter who makes them.
➎ Congratulate the winners, even if they're on the other team.

At age 10, the success I saw for myself was when I scored an A in my examinations.

At age 20, the success I saw for myself was to get a good job upon graduation.

At age 30, the success I saw for myself was to get a good job with career prospects.

At age 40, the success I saw for myself was to know that I am prepared for my retirement.

At age 50, I have yet to reach there, but I guess I am retired and able to look back on my life and be glad with whatever achievement I have.

At different ages, we will try our best at what we are wanting to achieve, some are afraid to try and lacking the courage. Some are willing to try and go all out to achieve their success.

So where are you at now? Let’s start thinking about what is success to you before it's too late. Or let's start with your child’s definition of success, talk to them, discuss with them to find out more!
