๐ŸŽ‰Our school came alive with warmth, joy and meaningful connections as we celebrated International Friendship Day!

The week was filled with engaging experiences that brought students together. Friendship took centre stage during recess, as our students bonded over heritage games like chapteh and five stones, strengthening connections through play and shared cultural experiences!

We are exceptionally grateful to our Opera Parents Club (OPC) for organising the vibrant cultural booths for our students to play and enjoy! Check out all the fun they had!

Our Cheer Champs, in collaboration with students from Tanjong Katong Girls' School (TKGS), led a hands-on Values In Action (VIA) learning station on water pH and its importance for shrimps โ€“ sparking curiosity while building teamwork and communication skills.

Respect, gratitude and inclusivity in action as our students grow together as a caring school community!

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’› Building Friendships Through Our Buddy Programme ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’ŽAnchored in Character and Citizenship Education (CCE), our buddy programme brings students together to form meaningful friendships and grow a warm, inclusive school community.

Through our โ€œGood Buddy Tipsโ€ lessons, students learn to be supportive, respectful and responsible buddies โ€” strengthening communication, empathy and positive peer relationships along the way. โœจ

Beyond the classroom, students bond through shared recess activities, games and meaningful interactions, bringing our RยฒIGHT values โ€” Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Gratitude, Humility and Tenacity โ€” to life. Older buddies step up to guide and support, while younger students build confidence and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

Acts of kindness are celebrated through โ€œCaught RยฒIGHT on Camera,โ€ recognising students who shine as role models of our school values. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’ง Every Drop Counts: A Splash of Learning and Fun!

๐Ÿ’Ž Our school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated World Water Day! We marked the occasion with meaningful activities that brought our school community together.

Students gathered for an engaging assembly where they learnt why water is precious and how each of us can play a part in conserving it. The learning continued during recess, with fun, hands-on activities organised by our teachers and supportive Parent Volunteers from Opera Parents Club (OPC).

We also observed Earth Hour by switching off our lights for 30 minutes, reflecting on our shared responsibility to care for the planet. In Mother Tongue lessons, students explored water conservation through creative activities, deepening their understanding in meaningful ways.

Together, we are reminded that small actions can make a big difference. Letโ€™s continue to protect our Earth and make every drop count! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’ŽAt OEPS, we believe learning goes beyond books. Itโ€™s about shaping hearts and character too! Each term, we spotlight selected ๐‘ยฒ๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐“ values, giving our students meaningful opportunities to experience them in action.

Back in Term 1, our focus was on ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ญ and ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ. From thoughtful acts of kindness to taking responsibility for their actions, our students brought these values to life through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Our aim? To nurture confident learners, caring contributors, and young hearts guided by the ๐‘ยฒ๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐“ values. Swipe through to see the ways OEPS makes learning fun, meaningful and value-driven!

So whatโ€™s happening in Term 2? Stay tuned as we explore how ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ and ๐†๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž are brought to life through our Uniquely OPERA learning experiences!

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“š OEPS Language Week 2026 ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’Ž Our school came alive with energy, imagination and a love for language during this yearโ€™s Language Week celebration!

We kicked off the festivities with an engaging authorโ€™s talk by Neil Humphreys, who inspired students by showing how stories can come from everyday moments.

Throughout the week, students enjoyed a myriad of activities such as anagrams, Pictionary and Snakes & Ladders, while exploring speech and drama, readersโ€™ theatre, presentation workshops and choral reading โ€” building confidence and bringing words to life.

We wrapped up Language Week with a vibrant Character Day, where students and staff brought stories to life by dressing as their favourite book characters!

It was certainly a joyful week of fun and engaging activities that inculcated a love for language!

๐Ÿ’Ž The last week of February was filled with creativity and music as our Primary 3 and Primary 6 students took part in Aesthetics Week! ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽถ During recess, the school buzzed with excitement as students proudly showcased their artistic creations and musical talents.

Our Primary 3 students delighted the audience with lively resonator bells ensemble performances, while the Primary 6 students impressed everyone with their melodic ukulele ensemble pieces. The performances brought smiles, applause and a wonderful sense of community across the school.

At the Art Recess Play, student artists also shared the inspiration behind their artworks, allowing teachers and peers to gain a deeper appreciation of their creative journeys. It was heartening to see our students express themselves so confidently and connect with others through the joy of art and music.

๐Ÿ’Ž What does family mean at the dining table? In this Primary 4 art lesson, students explored how food connects families, cultures and traditions. Using air-dry clay, students crafted miniature dishes special to them โ€“ from festive treats to favourite family meals!

They observed the colours, shapes and textures of each dish before arranging their clay creations into โ€œfestival meal tablesโ€ that reflected their family traditions. Through this, our students get the opportunity to develop their creativity and critical thinking as they adapted their ideas and expressed their individuality through art.

Beyond sculpting techniques, this art lesson nurtures confident learners and caring contributors as students learn to appreciate family, culture and the joy of sharing meals.

โ€œTogether, We Keep Singapore Strong.โ€

๐Ÿ’ŽOur school commemorated Total Defence Day with a series of engaging and meaningful activities that brought the six pillars of Total Defence to life!
Through assembly sharings, classroom discussions, recess activities and interactive Social Studies lessons, our students deepened their understanding of teamwork, resilience and shared responsibility. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

Highlights from this week:
๐Ÿ’ง Water Disruption Simulation โ€“ Students experienced collecting water from communal pails instead of using taps, learning firsthand the importance of conserving and valuing our resources.
๐Ÿšจ Emergency Fire Drill โ€“ Students practised evacuating safely and calmly, strengthening their readiness in times of crisis.

These hands-on experiences are reminders that preparedness matters, every role counts, and together, we can overcome challenges. By staying vigilant, supporting one another and treasuring what we have, we play our part in keeping Singapore strong and united.

๐Ÿ’ŽP5 Adventure Camp๐Ÿ’Ž

Against a backdrop of cool breezes, planes flying overhead and excited chatter, our P5 students embarked on their P5 Adventure Camp! From trekking along Changi coast to climbing rock walls and taking on high elements, they showed resilience, courage and growth every step of the way.

Kayaking along the shore and zooming across the zip-line were the highlights of the camp! Our students certainly stepped out of their comfort zones and into these new challenges.

Beyond these fun physical experiences, our students learnt so much through the reflection sessions during the camp. They learned what teamwork is all about, pushed through tough moments with perseverance and kept open minds to โ€œconquerโ€ the challenges ahead.

Our campers truly lived out the theme โ€œExplore to Conquerโ€!
