[Mid Autumn Festival Celebrations]
We travelled back in time to experience the love story of Chang E and Hoy Yi. The passing of secret messages within the mooncake and the making of lanterns. A story passed through generations, for the young to gain an appreciation of a festival celebrated by Chinese worldwide.

[Squeeze The Sponge!]
We held a mini challenge - to see who, among our students, could transfer the most water from a large container into a measuring jar, only by using a sponge within 30 seconds.
Many tactics were used! Speed of transferring, longer duration of soaking, strength of squeezing the sponge - even the combination of all of these!
The aim of this activity was for the students to observe and understand that the sponge's ability to absorb water is correlated with the pores within the sponge.
And of course, the winner walked away with a prize from the challenge!

[Nimble Numbers]
In this activity, students were paired and were tested on their mental sums and reaction time. They had to quickly identify the various number combinations that could lead up to the number shown on the board. This could be by way of addition and subtraction. Through such small competition, we educate our children how they should communicate with their peers even under pressure.

[Sound Experiment]
Can sound travel through water? Our young scientists put this question to the test!
They conducted two sets of experiment. The first, the ringing of a bell that is being submerged in water. Results were taken if the bell could be heard.
The second, is the clinking of two ice-cream scoops under water. Again, results were taken if the sound could be heard.
Our young scientists observed that in both experiments, sound was heard and they concluded that sound could indeed travel through water!

[Outdoor Play]
With clear skies and a bubbly spirit, the children explored the neighbourhood.
They stumbled upon a playground and devised their own activity for the day! We were heartened that they still have that innate attraction to playgrounds and the creativity to create their own games - something that is not taught yet never lost throughout the generations!

[Saying Thanks]
At NML, we observe a week of gratitude with our students with the use of their own Gratitude Tree.
With each branch representing someone or something that they are thankful for, students thoughtfully reflect on their recent experiences and list them down. They then creatively decorate these branches as a reminder to themselves to appreciate the precious moments in their lives.
What do you have to be grateful for today?

[A Celebration to Remember!]
We held our annual NML Party on 10 August to a great success!
Many of our students showed up with their friends and classmates. They played several games, such as Tic-Tac-Toe, Pictionary and Carrom. Everyone walked away with attractive prize(s) and more importantly, a great time out.
We would like to give a shoutout to our parents who have been so ever supportive in our initiatives and providing us with encouraging feedback after the event.
Looking forward to more parties ahead as we wind down the year!

[Learning the Colour Wheel]
The Color Wheel shows the relationship between colours. Warm & Cool. Primary, Secondary and tertiary.
Our students learned how each colour on the wheel represents a colour hue and how they could mix and match them according to their needs and creativity.
Whats your favourite colour?

Our observance of Racial Harmony Day last week continues!
Our students learned that by living in a dense multicultural society, it is important for us to be both tolerant and appreciative of each other's differences.
Through language, affirmation and tolerance, each one of us can make a difference towards building a more harmonious society!

[Racial Harmony Day celebrated on 21 July]
We promoted greater understanding between the different races among our students by playing traditional games. We hope that through such activities they learn more about one another's lives and preferences.

Food for thought?
How are noodles made? Our young minds set on a journey to uncover the process of kneading, rolling, folding & cutting to make those delicious strips.
Our students had to patiently listen to and follow by the recipe to create that perfect dough.
Glad they will be appreciating the food they consume in future and reduce their food waste.
