This week we invited Jiho, founder of Mobbin for a short interview. Mobbin is a comprehensive library of the latest mobile design patterns from apps that reflect the best in design. Mobbin is currently used by over 70,000 designers and product people around the world, including those from design-mature companies such as Airbnb, Facebook, Twitter & Uber.
In Year three of university, Jiho started Mobbin as a side project when he realised that the process of finding and browsing through app designs was manual and repetitive due to absence of a comprehensive library in mobile designs. When Mobbin was first launched in the app store in 2018, it was featured in "New Apps that We Love” section and it has been growing steadily since then.

bantu, inspired by the Malay word 'help', is a user-friendly and intelligent community management & engagement platform for non-profit organisations, allowing them to champion their social causes using more efficient and meaningful processes. This week we invited Joshua, Co-Founder of bantu (https://bantu.life/) for a short interview.
The idea of bantu was born when Joshua and his Co-founders realised there was a gap between social enterprise and technology. After speaking with over 100 non-profit organisations, they saw the possibility of turning the project into an actual business and then decided to incubate bantu at Furnace under SoC I&E. Over the course of 1 year 9 months, bantu has grown so much from a student startup and expanded its customer lists from non-profit organizations to include businesses that want to create positive social impacts.

Fully autonomous robots that are able to inspect damaged wind farms have been developed by Scots scientists.
Unlike most drones, they don't require a human operator and could end the need for technicians to abseil down turbines to carry out repairs. It would mean an end to the risky business of humans donning hard hats and harnesses to dangle from a high turbine column over a heaving sea.

With Pixel 4, Google's experimental tech bets finally enter the spotlight. On Tuesday, Google will formally introduce the Pixel 4 and its next generation of consumer devices at a splashy event in New York City.
The announcement wasn't surprising simply because tech giants usually guard marquee device features like state secrets. It was also notable because the new capability marks a big step for Google: One of its in-house experimental technologies is finally being released to a massive consumer market. And it's coming out on one of Google's most important devices -- a phone, a gadget that's as ubiquitous as they come.
