In the creative ecosystem, your network is just as vital as your craft.

Opportunities in the cultural sector thrive on the collaborations and industry connections you build long before graduation.

At UAS, students are given more opportunities to build real-world experience and industry connections as they prepare for professional practice.

We are proud to share that the University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) is participating in Artfield Nanhai Guangdong 2026 in Foshan, China! This marks a historic milestone for UAS as our first overseas residency collaboration with HUBART, and as the only overseas arts university for the showcase.

To bring this international showcase to life, students from LASALLE College of the Arts and NAFA spent a month living, listening, and creating on Pingsha Island. Immersed in local life, they allowed the island's rhythms to guide their creative practices, from daily ferry schedules and seasonal flood cycles to conversations with local farmers and fishermen, all of which shaped their final works.

Responding to the festival’s core theme, Water Connects, they translated these cross-cultural connections into site-responsive installations, tactile ceramics, moving images, and mixed media works. Their works will be presented alongside those from over 30 countries and regions at one of the area's leading contemporary art festival, showcasing the creativity of Singapore’s next generation of artists.

Join us in celebrating the students' journey:

🎨 Matthew Goh & Hans Chew - Master of Fine Arts, Fine Art, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore

🗓️ Artfield Nanhai Guangdong 2026 runs from 17 July 2026 to 3 January 2027.

The Emma Yong Bursary supports aspiring performing artists at the University of the Arts Singapore, continuing the legacy of beloved Singapore theatre artist Emma Yong, one of the founding members of the Dim Sum Dollies alongside Selena Tan and Pamela Oei.

Created in memory of Emma Yong, the bursary reflects her belief that future artists should not have to navigate their journeys alone. It creates space for students in acting and performance programmes at LASALLE College of the Arts and NAFA enabling them to focus on their training, take creative risks and grow into confident artistic voices.

Hear from Selena Tan (Founder and Artistic Director, Dream Academy; Co-Founder, Emma Yong Fund), alongside fellow friends and artists as they share how Emma’s spirit continues to live on through the bursary and the artists it supports today.
