Last year, some young dancers who take our regular Saturday company classes participated in a video penpal project with young dancers from Sydney.
We are so glad to work with the wonderful folks of Seet Dance, and to continue working together, as we prepare to share the Dancing-In-Place project more widely this year, and as we develop our work as dance and teaching artists throughout our lives.

Late last year, our artists Bernice Lee and Faye Lim had the pleasure of chatting with Charemaine Seet alongside fellow practitioners Ting-Ting Cheng, Lu Shirley Dai, Anna Kuroda, and Justine Shih Pearson.
Hosted by Critical Path, Australia's leading centre for choreographic enquiry, research and development, our discussion was provoked by New York-based dance artist Miguel Gutierrez’s article on BOMB and Anh Vo’s interview with choreographer Juliana F. May.
We responded with a digital meet-up led by Charemaine Seet and began our own conversation, shared on the Interchange Festival 2019-20 website www.interchange.criticalpath.org.au
P.S. We are also currently working with Charemaine Seet (Seet Dance) on a special project, bringing together young dancers in Singapore and Sydney for the special virtual dance programme "Dancing-In-Place: Movement Penpals".
Critical Path Interchange Home | Interchange Critical Path's Interchange program included a residencies, workshops and labs, a 3-day Interchange Festival 2017 and the Digital Interchange Festival 2019.

It’s sad to see arts spaces in Singapore be made to move on, either to become nomadic, to shift to a shinier space if they’re “lucky”, or to shrink in size. Our dance classes are held at The Substation — one of the most important and longest-running art spaces in Singapore, it survived the teardown of the National Library, which was replaced by the Dhoby Ghaut Tunnel, now between the new SMU building and the new plaza.
We’re thankful to know and share that The Substation will continue to be at The Substation until next July, and that our community of dancers will continue to get to build memories in this historic space at least for now. We can only wait to see what happens after the renovations (and find a temporary home nearby in the interim), but meanwhile we know that The Substation is happy to have us.
We think that arts spaces are essential to the building of individual memories and cultural memories. We are proud to call The Substation home.
Here's The Elbow Show by Rolypoly Family, presented by 3Pumpkins! Rolypoly Family created this for families and young audiences, but we find certain movement (and anatomy) ideas endlessly fascinating and useful to play with, even though the language we use and our bodily knowledge has evolved. Rolypoly Family houses the family- and child- focused programming by Derring-Do Dance.
