**7 Tips for Buying Cheap Flight Tickets**
1. **Book on Tuesdays and Wednesdays**
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are some of the best days to buy flight tickets. Most airlines update their booking systems at around 7:00 PM on Tuesdays. Airlines know that most travelers have time to book tickets only on weekdays. Statistics show that most of us usually check ticket prices on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
2. **Book in Advance, But Not Too Early**
Based on experience, you should book your tickets at least 21 days before your travel date. Most airlines have systems designed to sell as many tickets as possible. Therefore, a certain quota of tickets is reserved at a lower price. For example, for a flight from Dhaka to London, the system might offer the lowest fare to the first 20 passengers, a moderate fare to the next 200, and the highest fare for the rest. In short, airline prices are determined based on the margins they want to achieve for flights like Dhaka to London.
3. **Pick the Right Days to Fly**
Try to book tickets for flights departing on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most airlines classify these as "low-traffic days" in their booking systems. Airports also tend to be less crowded on these days compared to busy periods like Fridays and Sundays, when both booking systems and airports become highly congested.
4. **Find the Best Deals for International Flights**
Many airlines offer the best deals on international flights about 11 to 12 weeks before departure. So, check the prices regularly within this timeframe.
5. **Choose Smaller Airports**
Try this method: instead of landing at a major airport, choose a smaller one close to your destination. For example, if you're traveling to London, many people usually land at Heathrow. Next time, instead of Heathrow, try landing at a smaller airport nearby, such as Manchester Airport. Then, you can take a train from Manchester to London. Give this method a try.
6. **Clear Your Cookies**
Many people are unaware of this tip. If you’ve visited an airline’s website within the last 30 days, clear the cookies on your laptop, smartphone, or PC. Booking systems can use these cookies to detect that you’ve visited their website multiple times, which could affect the prices shown to you. Sometimes, prices can even increase! So, get into the habit of clearing your browser cookies. If you're unsure how to do it, just ask Google!
7. **Compare Prices**
Don’t be lazy when it comes to checking prices on other websites for the ticket you want to buy. Don’t just focus on one website—you’ll be surprised to find that sometimes the same airline’s ticket is cheaper on other platforms. Here are some search engines I often use for my travels:
- Skyscanner
- CheapFlight
- Momondo
- Kayak
- Google Flight
- Ita Software
