Hi everyone!👋🏻 Uniad Team here. We are undergrads from NUS/NTU running Uniad: Superapp for Education - connecting educators, learners and resources altogether.

✅ Why did we start Uniad? Initially we wanted to provide a place where tutors could connect with students for free as many of our peers were tutoring part-time. One day, during a conversation with one of our early users, Winnie—a tutor herself, told us that what tutors need is “something like Grab for education”—a comprehensive platform that not only connects but also provides access to resources and tools all in one place. It was true - over the months we found many other areas where we could help educators and learners. Now we are building that idea into reality.

We envision a transparent community where educators, learners and resources can connect, share and grow altogether on a single platform. We launched our first Prototype website in January 2023, followed with a mobile app back in August 2023. Today, we are a fast-growing community with thousands of tutors and students along with supports from our schools.

"Hi guys, my name is Jin Guang and I am currently a Year 2 student, pursuing a BSC(Sci) Computer Science degree at Singapore Management University.

Learning about the world and equipping myself with the 21st Century Skills required to make an impact has always been my interest. Thus I made the choice to teach Economics and General Paper, as they form the understanding of how the world around us operates and allow us to analyse happenings critically. I would say that my distinguishing trait as a tutor is that I am able to allow my students to easily understand new topics by explaining individual concepts in a manner that ultimately links up to bigger picture ideas!

A researcher that I commonly make reference to is Dr Justin Sung, an expert in the area of Neuroscience, particularly in the brain's ability for information encoding and retrieval. In contrast to the commonly touted "spaced repetition, flashcards and pomodoro" techniques that primarily focuses on rote learning and the quantity of time spent studying the subject, his tips are commonly based on quality of learning and increasing cognitive load. This could be done through techniques such as priming (pre-reading material to gain a general overview of concepts before zooming into details) and making study notes in a manner as if you were intending to use the material to teach the concept to others. These allow for a deeper appreciation of the concepts learnt rather than just a mash of details, despite an overall less time spent studying.

I feel that in General Paper and Economics, these skills constitute the basis for developing comprehensive responses to ace the examinations."
