Title: Practical Exercises for Beginners, Op.599 No.17 by Carl Czerny

Proud of Tyler for fixing his collapsed joints and playing this exercise with relatively neat fingerwork. It’s not easy to correct poor fingerwork that has developed into a habit over the years. He must have been working really hard to get this done properly. Keep it up, Tyler!

Double notes with contrasting articulations! 🎹 The challenge is not just playing the notes together, but coordinating the fingers while switching smoothly between connected and detached touches.

Little Details 🎹✨

Paying close attention to the little fingers and making sure every note is articulated clearly and correctly. These small details may seem minor, but they make a big difference in creating a clean, controlled, and expressive performance.
It is all about attention to detail! 🎶

Name: Student L
Date: 19 August 2026
Title: Waltz in E flat KK IVb Nr.10 by Frederic Chopin

L’s first time playing Chopin. 🎹 We experimented with different rubatos instead of keeping everything strictly in time. Exploring when to linger, when to move forward, and how much freedom to take helped L discover a more expressive and personal way of shaping the music. ✨

Title: Sonatina in C, Op.36 No.1, 1st mvt by Muzio Clementi

Joshua had his 7:45am lesson this morning, bringing plenty of energy to the first movement of Clementi’s Sonatina in C Major, Op. 36 No. 1. 🎹
He worked hard on keeping the tempo steady while adding greater dynamic contrast to shape the phrases and tell a more convincing musical story. A bright and energetic start to the morning! ☀️🎶

Title: Sonata in C major no.60 Hob.XVI/50, 3rd mvt by Joseph Haydn

The final movement of this sonata is short, energetic, lively and playful. It is filled with Haydn’s characteristic humour and musical wit, featuring sudden pauses, unexpected harmonic turns, rhythmic surprises and playful shifts in phrase structure.
