Outing on a rainy day = double the joy!

Who says rainy days mean staying indoors? Or canceling the planned outdoor learning? Our little explorers proved that a bit of rain only makes our adventure twice as fun!

Of course, "double the fun" for the kids also means "double the effort and cleanup" for our incredible teachers. πŸ˜… A massive shout out and thank you to our teachers for always putting in the extra work just to keep those bright smiles glowing! 🌟

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our amazing parents. Your understanding and support make magical days like this possible. It truly takes mutual love and cooperation to nurture such happy hearts.

Bringing a whole new meaning to "prepared environment"! 😜

Our lovely teachers in RTM Schoolhouse @ Loyang extended our learning space into an exclusive indoor paradise designed just for our Rain Tree Montessori children. Seeing them independently explore, leap with confidence on the bouncy castle, and dive into sensory fun in the ball pit is pure magic.

After all, a happy heart is the best foundation for a growing mind. πŸ’–

"Now consider for a moment the work of a small child. His work is to create the man he will be. But he is not conscious of this end, he is conscious only the means he employs. From a baby's first kicking through his successive attempts to hold his head up, sit up, grasp his toes, his mother's finger, and bright color objects, he is working at his own muscular and mental development. Nobody can give him direct help with this; no mechanical device can save him the labor of coordinating his muscles or exercising his mind. "

As we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, our little artists in our RTM@Loyang centre have been hard at work creating their very own lacquered fans. This hands-on activity is a wonderful way for the children to express thier creativity while celebrating the festival. From intricate designs to vibrant colors, each fan is a unique masterpiece. πŸ‘πŸ₯°πŸ€—

Why is it so important to model behavior?

Are you aware that our children are watching us adults all the time whether we are teaching them at school or at home.

β€˜The child is sensitive and impressionable to such a degree that the adult ought to monitor everything he says and does, for everything is literally engraved in the child’s mind.’ - The Child in the Family, Dr Maria Montessori

Practice praising your child's effort and process instead, so you can help your child build confidence in their skills. Evaluative or judgmental praise can unintentionally communicate that your love and acceptance is conditional and puts kids into a box that limits them from trying new things as they can become afraid to "fail".

In school the teacher stands by, she does not correct or interfere with the child's work. When something goes wrong she waits to be asked for help, but most often a child persists until he himself does it right. This is perseverance, the beginning of will power which is so important a part of personality.

Rain Tree School Holiday Programme

Our teachers came up with fun activities for the children each week as part of our June school holiday programme.

In week one, children enjoyed stories and participated in activities by our professional Speech and Drama teacher.

In week two, children had cookery sessions where they ate meals like fried eggs and bread with jam that were prepared by themselves.

In the final week, children unleased their creativity through the arts, exploring art techniques such as tape resist. They also experimented with tools and medium to create a variety of works like chalk drawings, play dough models, a paper plate boat and even a shark!
